I was just flying around on Wake today, keeping tabs on those pesky J-10s when i was rewarded with a capture assist point. Apparently i flew over a flag just as it happened to change hands, must have been the Airfield. Note: my current speed was 1020km/h? or miles/h, so i wasn't just hovering. Could someone clarify the units in the game for me?

you can do it on any map with a Jet, you just got to be flying over the flag at the right time.  Honestly I have never done it myself, but I have flown over so many flags and gotten the bar to take or capture a flag more times then I can recall.

Hmm,in BF1942 it was possible to capture flags with an airplane, you just had to circle tight enough around it.
I'm not sure if it would work in BF2 with jets but maybe there is a good pilot out there who likes to try.

Think if you were flying over just as the flag was being capped by one person, and that person died so you got credit for the full capture....

That would be cool!

There is no way you were going OVer 1000 mph, I am sure it was in Kilometers per hours, I mean be realistic.

Metric all the way.  I'm assuming that all of the US vehicles use the same units of measurement and on the US choppers (either the cobra, hawk, or maybe both) it mentions Kilometers per hour somewhere on the HUD (EA designed the worst huds ever along with the terrible machinegun sights (This isn't WWII, we don't need to limit ourselves to using tracer rounds to hit the enemy anymore).

The speed on your jet is in kilometers. The instruments on an aircraft must be precise, and the metric system is the standard in that department. If you notice the Mig29 and J-10 have the same speeds as their american counterparts... and those manufacturers never use imperial.

I'm basing this on the fact that I've seen videos of 1500 miles and you are definately not going that fast in game. 1000 kms looks more like it.
Nope, aviation speed in measured in Knots.  I'm an engineer and my discipline is aircraft instrumentaiton for the B-1Bomber.  We measure speed, as all military aircraft do because it is standardized, in KIAS or Knots Indicated Aircraft Speed.  Of course this is a game so it may indicate speed in Cheetos per hour but in the real world it is  knots.  We measure fuel in pounds, not gallons by the way.

No one knows how things work in the magical world of EA's mind.

I was about to say.  You can easily take a flag yourself if you know how to hover properly.

I've done that! North base on Wake. Strafed it when grey, got a kill and a teamkill as well, and then flew close for the bombing run and didn't get anymore kills but did get the full capture assist point. Just pissed that I didn't have fraps running that day.

Note that the US is the only industrialized country that is not using decimal metric system. Scary
