I admit to complaining about US fire friendly incidents in the past but hearing those pilots they checked as much as they could I don't think they are to blame. I hope the people at the other end of the radio were investigated for negligence etc.Scorpion0x17 wrote:

Watch the video, those pilots were NOT trigger happy. They asked for confirmation and 'command' ensured them that there were no friendlies near. When the pilots heard they had fired on Brits they were devastated. One got sick and the other cried. Fuck me but I can't blame those pilots. I just can't.
Do British tank drivers suck also? By your reasoning, Brits are trigger happy also.KillerClown_UK wrote:

i don't think the pilots should be fired...i just think the ground control should be...it wasn't the pilots fault that the ground control confirmed them as enemysSgtHeihn wrote:
Friendly Fire makes me sick, those pilots and the ground control should be fried..... His fucking wing man was even saying,"I see orange pannels on the vehicals". When I was in Iraq we had to put orange air panels on all our vehicals to mark them friendly from aircraft. That video was somone worried about getting kills, shit they weren't even taking ground fire, that should have been the first clue, and second the ORANGE FUCKING AIR PANELS!!!
edit: I'm American and a Vet and I think that this is wrong

It was an accident.
I feel sorry for killed British soldier and his parents, family... but I also feel sorry for those pilots, it was real fuck up and they did what they should to do. There is no point to bitch them... I think they already will have a big problem to return to normal life and forgive themselve. It is sad moment but its fuckin war, we must admit that nowadays everyone is working on maximum to decrease casualties made by own weapons.
If I would be the one of those British soldiers who taked fire from A10, and a buddy of mine would killed, dunno how would my feelings look like, but.. we are here they are there.
It is just sad...

its kinda hard to know exactly what ur shooting at 1000 mph and 1000s of feet above the ground. they got confirmation that there were no friendlies in the area. it sucks, but it happens. there was a lot more friendly fire in previous wars though, the FF in todays battles are very rare, but they always suck. knowing u killed a friend is devastating.
I disagree. There have been numerous UK friendly fire incidents not involving US troops, I assume the same is true for US friendly fire incidents too. You just only ever hear about friendly fire incidents when they involve foreign troops.=OBS= EstebanRey wrote:
Oh, and why is it always the US we here about when it comes to friendly fire? Proof that American Soldiers are badly trained?
I feel kinda sorry for the pilots involved in the incident. The FAC should face some sort of charges for negligence though - he gave them the order to fire, which seemed unneccessary - they were in the middle of the desert, it's not like the A-10s were gonna suddenly lose them, the controller should have checked more thoroughly.

(1) Zero logic
(2) Ad hominem arguments
(3) No story, just a half-baked attempt at stirring up yet another US/UK flame war
Or, in this case, all 3.
When a British soldier kills another British soldier, it's because he got confused and thought he was an enemy. When a American kills a British soldier, it's because he's a poorly trained trigger-happy cowboy.

Most of the time I AM an anti-american poster, but in this case it's just uncalled for. In fact, I dislike my 'fellow' anti-americans who take opportunities like this to trash America when there's really no good grounds for it. It makes all of us (anti-americans) look like ignorant idiots. Kinda how there's extremist pro-americans who make all the 'healthily moderate' pro-americans look bad.R0lyP0ly wrote:

Disgusting it took this long for it to come out. Had it been released from the start, the pilots would have their names cleared. Hopefully the punishment will be dealt to the proper people: the guys who thought the blue squares on their computers meant Insurgent Jeeps.

thats how calling in an airstrike works. ESPECIALLY if there are friendly boots on the ground. How do i know this? Im a fucking Infantryman. I fight for a damned living, and I have had F15s do gun runs on a building right next door to the high rise I was on. I have also seen several hellfires, and apaches and kiowa's do gun runs. They only fire when they have someone ON THE GROUND guiding them. That means there was a bloody brit calling in a fire mission. Now be it him calling his TOC, and the TOC calling the american air liason, or FIRES officer, somewhere the commands got screwed up, the pilots should have known there was DANGER CLOSE. The brits on the ground should have known there was an inbound airstrike and got down.
Who ever the assclown was that was calling for the airstrike is a douche. Not the pilots, they were walked onto the target.
NOW STFU unless you know WTF you are talking about. Its easy to troll the internet and "THINK" you know WTF is going on, but until you're goddamned boots are on the ground and you get paid to shoot another human being in a war you are ignorant to the facts.
yeah those bloody brits are perfect, thats why Taskforce: Knight enters our battle space without letting us know (a big no-no) and thats why those elite SAS cats cant ID a goddamned stryker on an open highway and decide to ambush a platoon rolling to recover and burning stryker. That was less then 2 monthes ago,R0lyP0ly wrote:

Did that make the news? Probably not cause the bloody SAS are perfect, and the americans are trigger happy. Even "the virginian army" has the curtesy to let us know when they are operating in our battle space.
all I saw was some guy shooting up.
Haven't bothered to keep up with where the discussion is going, but you may want to watch the ones on YouTube rather than direct off the Sun site. Someone told me the Sun didn't show the whole 15 min vid, and just the bits that make them sound bad. Which as it's the Sun doesn't really surprise me. But yeah, the whole thing is on YT.
DOH! if you bothered to check my video link it would prove that you are typing "bollocks"ghettoperson wrote:

Another thing I have read today "IN THE SUN" is that one of the a10 pilots called "skeeter" has been
promoted to Colonel & is training rookie a10 pilots ? is that called irony OR CRAZY ?
What do you say to that one ?
^^ It's called life, move forward.

For "A Call for Fire"
This looks like a Target of Opportunity
No call for fire made, just a check for friendly's in the area.
Either way......someone needs his butt kicked.
I would really like to see what the investigation turned up.
