It's global, don't ask just one country.

Sad how that was going on just some years after we crushed a government that was a bit worse than how we acted.

That sounded ambiguous; It's sad that people were so discriminative towards blacks only a few years after we defeated the Nazis who took discrimination to the extreme.

Also, I think people who parade this shit around are a bunch of butt fucking hypocrites.  If you really wanted equality and for everyone to ignore race and pay attention and love each other as humans, you wouldn't have a BLACK History Month, or organizations like the NAACP and dick heads like Paul Mooney and Al Sharpten on the news, every time some jerk off says the "n" word.  As a matter of fact, all this shit just puts black people on a pedestal for a month and tries to make the rest of us feel like shit.

My personal feelings are that racism is a child of a larger form of common ignorance - "discrimination." It really just doesn't end at a "color-line."

Ignorance breeds all forms of discrimination. I think, in a hypothetical world where everybody, more or less, looked the same - we would still find something to discern as different; and then demean & discriminate against those very differences.

I think if you see yourself doing it; discriminating; when it clearly isn't racism per se; you are on the verge of understanding it (this particular form of discrimination: racism, or any other form as well). And if you understand that you can do it; have done it; you (me) as an individual can learn to be less thoughtless. Discriminating usually is NOT about mere "taste" (an "I don't like that sort of thing.") It is not about simple likes and dislikes or personal taste. It is about disregarding the entirety of an individual based upon a single aspect of their being.

People will discriminate based upon: good looks, clothing, weight, nationality, the length of some-ones hair, etc. Color/race doesn't even have to enter the picture - before we are prepared to discriminate.  You may not consider yourself a racist; I don't consider myself one; but I am not certain that is the absolute truth. For I do discriminate casually, thoughtlessly, over other issues - that is a start - if I admit that I do it.  So am I a racist? Do I casually thoughtlessly discriminate? On occasion - I would have to admit - I do - even though I don't really want to.

I am not certain I am NOT a racist, I just don't think I am...

i agree with cougar, i am just not eloquent enough to state it as well as he does. i just get pissed and start yelling, spitting, and breaking stuff, then i go look for a fight. but then i Am a redneck cracker, and thats whut we duz.

EDIT: there IS NO GUILT, the past is the past, get over it, get a job, get off of welfare and move on like the rest of the world.

After watching that video, I have to say one thing. What Civil war was all about. Freeing slaves. But up until 1950's when President was trying to put black and whites together, black people felt like slaves in southern states. Why was USA in war with Germany, to stop a tyranny in Europe. Maybe they should of thought of stopping tyranny and oppression on it's own ground. I mean at that time if you where not white in America you were nothing.
And I personally solute all of those Kids that went to school and risking their lives, because some white ass hole thought he was above them.
One more thing, I don't care if you're White, Black, Yellow, Red or Blue for that matter, WE all live on the same planet and we all born the same way and we all die in the same matter (ok some of us will die sooner than others but you all  know what I mean) so we all should be as equal as every one else.

Actually the civil war was not about slaves.  Lincoln freed the slaves towards the end of the war to give a metaphorical "fuck you" to the southern states.
