This should be interesting................................
Sudan has refused US peace keepers. Shall we invade?KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

History and recent event show that countries will only get involved if it suits them economically, politically etc.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

If the US were serious about no nukes they would have gone into Nth Korea.
If the US were serious about removing brutal dictators they would liberate Zimbabwe.
Iraq refused weapons inspectors, but that didn't seem to stop you...............................Kmarion wrote:

, sorry, couldn't help it.
Is this thread just retaliation in the form of rhetoric? Cause I actually answered it..lol

The US does not need to provide military/peace keepers. It could enforce economic sanctions, accept refugees, etc. But then again, there are many countries who are sitting complacent to this tragic reality.

Well, to a degree it's a valid question. But yes, I suspect it's largely to make a point.Kmarion wrote:

I would like to see a serious discussion on this. We always use Darfur as an example of what's not being done. I would like to see solutions and not just it being used as a tool. What is happening over there is truly disturbing.Bubbalo wrote:

Yeah, but the problem is no-one who can do anything cares.
If someone could do something about it what would that be?

Force the Sudanese government (which is decidedly complacent itself on the issue, even allegedly supporting some of marauding forces) into doing something.
Everything does not have to be solved with a gun/troops. Use the biggest force we can - $$$

That sentence made no sense. How can a country be asshole?dark110 wrote:

Just at the moment it probably means troops on the ground. Longer term, I can't even speculate....................Kmarion wrote:

............but I will anyway. Perhaps splitting the country up, or turning it into a protectorate (a fairly big step backwards, I'll admit, but desperate times and all that..................).

It seems people expect US to intervene wherever there are problems, like if US was the police of the world... I dont think so.. it would be a good thing if the us decided to intervene there, but they dont have to, its not their problem.
Why always the US ? why not UK, Germany, etc ?
the problem is if we keep this logic, US will be everywhere in the world, and everythink will turn into a quagmire like Iraq.. and you guys will see your dept become even worse than now.

Well, no one is helping, so I guess that means that everyone in the world is as bad as the Janjaweed. What a shitty world we live in!topal63 wrote:

Well that was epic.

Dump money in an already corrupt government? We tried sending food to Somalia, look what happened there. The situation there is very complicated.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:
