will my doc X files open with office 03? if not how can i get them to do so. thanks
NO, and I don't think you can.
Have a look on microsoft website to see if there is a converter.
I assume you're asking this because you have created documents using the beta of office 2007 and now that it has run out you can no longer read them with office 2003?

^^^^^^^ What he said
ok i installed that conversion thing. how do i get it to work?
It integrates into office xp or 2003 and allows you to open, edit and save .docx files. Although, as stated on the website, you need to have all critical updates installed before installing this.
Just open word and you should now be able to read the .docx files.
Problem solved.

it says the convertor failed to save the file. whats wrong?
Perhaps if you told us what you are trying to do we might be able to help....
and I assume you have all the security patches installed that it requires....
you open your version of Office then open the file you need the converter you just installed will make it readable in your version...you the save as.( note not save) and choose the .doc extension

Okay, the $64000 question, you do have a legitimate copy of Office, don't you?
i had the 07 beta and then it said today that it had to b uninstalled for sum reason. it had overrided my office from before and now i cant find the disk to get it back. so i installed my microsoft works and i needmy docx back into doc. and yes my copy was legal
Are you using Word or the WP in works??kiteboarderni wrote:

Well seeing as you don't have Office installed I don't think the compatibility pack will help you much. I think you need to find your Office disk.
The Office 07 beta had to be uninstalled because it has expired. This was explained to you when installing it, that it was going to expire in February '07 and that you would need to reinstall your Office after uninstalling '07.
Only other option is to buy Office 2007.

This site says it converts docx to html/plain text. Not ideal, but a good last resort.
