I can't find any other post on this (sorry if their is one) i just had to post about this film. The visuals look amazing. Based on the Graphic Novel by Frank Miller, so don't take it for being an exact account of the battle of Thermopylae, enjoy.

Hey man, your opinion. I did mention it is based on the novel by Frank Miller > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/300_(comic_book) and it's not to be taken as an exact account of the battle.

Anyway... 300 is probably the movie I've watched the preview to repeatedly. The Battle of Thermopylae is my favorite one in Greek history. Just thinking about it drives me insane.
300 men willing to stand against thousands to defend their homeland, and to add that they held them off for TWO days is amazing. In my opinion, the Spartans could've held out much longer had it not been for the traitor but oh well.

Thermopylae, if the legend is true, is the greatest military conflict of all time. Second is D-Day if that puts it in perspective.

read a book, it isnt true. The largest armies in those days reached 50k MAX. It is true that Xersies had 250,000 large total army the battle involved 7k greeks and like 50k persians, still incredible odds. The final battle at platea was like 50k vs 30k, which is why the persians lost.

Im not 100% but i think the movie is out on the 9th March in the US and the 30th March in the UK.

Master I trust most wikis but modern historians pretty much all agree that until WWI and WWII there were never that many soldiers in combat, the largest proven armies have been 50k maximum.

hehe yea, but the Halo movie has been put aside until someone decides to sponsor it again:(
MC and his troops are Spartan II's though I want to know what the hell happened to the other survivors of the books as well. Damn Bungie.

For those guys who want a more realistic telling of the battle, I would suggest Gates of Fire. Its a really good read and it shows a map of the area and the pass, just for you visual people.
