Half of foreign fighters enter through Syria, official says
Iraq's government spokesman said Saturday that more than half of the foreign fighters carrying out bombings and killings in Iraq enter through Syria.
Ali al-Dabbagh made the comment to CNN after he spoke about the matter on Iraqi state TV Saturday.
Syria has said it is trying to deal with the problem.
Al-Dabbagh acknowledged the Syrian government's efforts but called on it to tighten control of the border.
He added that "some in the Syrian leadership are supporting the Saddamists and the forces of terror."

Syria says it's trying to deal with the problem . . . riiiiiight.

I agree...  I'm skeptical about any true effort being put out by Syria on this.  It's like them saying that they're trying to deal with how Hezbollah terrorists move back and forth between Syria and Lebanon.

I'll give you 1 guess on where the rest of them enter Iraq from ???

along with more advanced weaponry and tactics??

could it be the same place that has started supplying the Afghan rebels (re-surging Taliban) with the same stuff??

Of course it is and it is going to take a mighty hammer blow to stop Iran and Syria from helping defeat the Americans. They CANNOT allow a stable Iraq with an American presence it shakes the very foundation they have based their own non secular (and Radical) rule on.

I can't really take the War on Terror seriously until our government actually does something about Saudi Arabia's influence in Iraq.  We get angry with Syria and Iran for funding Shiite insurgents, but we say nothing about how Saudis do the same with Sunnis.

I don't disagree..

unfortunately the US has and probably will always see Saudi Arabia as the lesser of all other evils in the region. Its amazing how we choose to look the other way when our "friends" are involved.
