Is it better to unlock all the way to a new gun, or is it better to get the unlock right before the gun and save your precious unlock for more equipment and get the gun from a field unlock?

I think it might be better to unlock the equipment right before the gun and just get the gun froma field unlock since those are really easy to get anyway.

What are your guys' thoughts?

I worked my way right up to the Lambert from the start, and got it. If its a gun i really want, ill unlock it. If its a gun im not so bothered about, eg Zeller, ill wait for a field upgrade

I don't think you can unlock guns on Field Upgrades.

You can unlock guns with field unlocks.

But waiting patiently for your weapon, while nobody on your team is issuing orders and nobody joins your squad is very frustrating.

If it's a gun you can live without, leave it. If it's a gun you like, and will use often, unlock it!

Wrong. You can. I got up to AR Rockets and I can Field Upgrade to the Baur.

I think it's best to unlock (the) tree(s) that you prefer all the way.
But some trees are best when only those items you really, really want are unlocked and the rest of the tree (weapon) is kept for field upgrades. That way there is still something to 'earn' during a game, and you can unlock the stuff you really need.

the Voss for instance is still in my 'i'll unlock it sometime' corner. While the Pilum was a weapon i wanted to play with from the start of a match.

QFT. I was purely a voss user, then when on the NS beta, i decided to go for my Vet assault badge, i racked up the kills much faster using the krylov, that things amazing. Bit like the ak101 from bf2

The Ganz does not disappoint. You'll love it. I prefer the Voss over the Baur, but to each his own. Your style of play may be different from mine.

Just pick up your fallen comrades kits and you´ll work yourself through the unlocks if there´s something you just can´t stand missing then go for that otherwise the standard weapons are more or less equal to each and his own.
