I live in Connecticut and its all over the news tonight. Lieberman said he would change from independent to Republican no later than 08' , just in time before the election. I wonder what this will do? Will it swing the senate? Discuss.

Joeseph Liberman is the only senator who's name can be rearranged to spell "I jab herpes melon." -Dave Barry. On topic: I don't know what it will do. I guess we'll have to wait and find out...

Lieberman is a DINO (Democrat in name only).

Personally, I'd prefer he switch to being a Republican.  With things currently being as they are, he just pretends to be a Democrat, when he's really a moderate Republican.

I don't have a problem with Lieberman supporting what he believes in to the extent that he does, but he's in the wrong party.  He just muddles things for the Democrats.

Besides, if he chose to caucus with the Republicans, the Senate would be evenly split.  That's a nice balance of power.

I call him a Republican who just hasn't gotten the memo yet, but that's just semantics. The problem is that there are LOTS of dems who haven't gotten the memo yet. In the senate, there's Robert Byrd, Daniel Inouye, Blanche Lincoln, Mark Pryor, John Rockefeller, and Jim Webb. The vast majority of the hangers on from the yellow dog democrat days are Republicans in all but name.

Robert Byrd and Jim Webb seem pretty critical of the President. They may be moderate but they're not completely Republican. The House has a great deal of DINOs, especially from the Southern states. The Senate, though, seems to be made up mostly of defined centrists for their respective parties.

It doesn't say anywhere in that article that he may switch parties. All it says is that he will SUPPORT any good candidate, regardless of party.

I am not really refering to the articles. I am from Connecticut and it was released from his office headquarters.  And by the way, when a politician does not say yay or nay. Its never a may.

I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, but I don't understand what you're trying to say there.

Neither do I. When a politician doesn't say yes or no it's never maybe? Wha?
The paradox is only a conflict between reality and your feeling what reality ought to be.
