The people who are planning the party are from ex upper class families of Cuba. Their families had their positions of power and wealth taken from them. They are pissed because Castro turned Cuba from a rich foreigners play ground to a level playing field for the people.

True. Often the intial stages of consolidation of power after a "Communist" revolution involve the masses, who genuinely believe in Communism, attacking the former upper class. Further, those who live through it generally can't stand conditions: they've grown up knowing something different. We are still to this day pulling Cubans out of the water. Some have made it almost here, to Tampa. Not exactly the initial stages of communism in Cuba. I have many Cuban-American friends, you can probably guess thier views towards the dictator. Didn't you guys watch Scarface .
