Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity. There is no way to have peace with radical islam, so we bring the fight to them instead of sitting and waiting. Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice.

justice is a relative term, so i suppose conflicts will always be justified by the one dealing the justice via conflict.
Radical Islam though is not something you can have "peace" with since well they essentially deny the existence of nation states....hence no diplomacy

I see where you are coming from, but I find it hard to sympathize with Muslims. I realize most Muslims aren't extremists, but there are still so many out there that I have to admit that I just don't trust that religion or its followers in general.sergeriver wrote:
Everyday we read about the problems in the Middle East, the fight between Israel and Arab Nations, the massive immigration from Muslim countries to Europe, etc. And the generalized feeling in the West towards Islam is that it's a Religion of terrorism, and that we should fear all the Muslims. At least a lot of people think this way, and this general feeling about the Muslim community draws a parallel to the anti-Semitism that was prevelant in the Nazi Germany upto the Holocaust. Are Muslims becoming the new Jews? Is this kind of stereotype, particularly vilification in the media, making Muslims the new scapegoats? What do you think?
So yes, maybe I am anti-Semitic in the Arab sense (since Arabs are a Semitic people).
You should read all of my post. I find it amazing people can not discern the difference in these two unique situations. Anti-Semitism still out weighs Islamophobia by far but more importantly the causes are vastly different. At no point have I ever said all people of these groups do this (that would have been a demonstration of stereotyping). Since both the events did in fact happen I was merely stating facts. Where was i incorrect? Jews are victims of hate crimes more than twice as much as Muslims. I am not a Islamophobia because I have the mental capacity to be able to understand the difference.doctastrangelove1964 wrote:

Help me out here, why does the "hatred" have to be greater than that towards the Jews before it can be viewed as a "problem." If it were to get to that level would it not set itself up for another holocaust event?Kmarion wrote:

Bad analogy.
False dilemma.
False conclusion based upon a false dilemma.
Errant unconnected hyperbole, you probably heard someplace, masquerading as thought.
Peace comes after the fighting and it does happen; it has to. It is not always a permanent peace - but no one realistically thinks that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth the effort - OR that there are not more effective ways of dealing with problems.
If anything were (attempting to deliver) delivering Democracy at the END of a GUN BARREL. We broke the peace. They aren’t virgins - we aren’t virgins - to conflict.
If that were anything other than PURE NONSENSE - pretending to be poetic - then - if the War is JUST; or War is bringing JUSTICE; War is PEACE. (It is beyond STUPID!)usmarine2007 wrote:

This “bring the fight to them” - is a dumb idea as well. The WAR was based upon lies, the Terror threat is not the NEVER-ENDING war they say it is. It is NOT the defining conflict of our generation/time. The terror threat is HYPE for an agenda - the Borderless Empire the Neo-Cons have imagined into being. Why do WE need to bring any fight to them? The US military is superb in its technological achievements and capabilities - a surgical-use of advanced arms/bombing/strikes seems a more appropriate PLAN - to maintain what peace we can - OR to achieve our goals of National Security/self-interest.
This - we need to bring ground troops half way around the world to kill a few radical nuts - spending a hundreds of millions of dollars or a billion on this weak-premise - seems an utterly stupid conception at best.
And part of the HYPE is to create a phobia in the common mindset of the average-joe about Islamic-world/the hyped Terror-threat. I am no fan of the Koran - it's the bastard-son of the Bible, but that doesn't mean that is all there is to Muslim/Arabic world. Educate out the blind-certainty, the great error of FAITH, based upon myths, and you have a people with a long-vast-history and a stylized culture.
This is not worth anything...usmarine2007 wrote:

The whole point of the topic was to compare the two. It is trying to be portrayed that Islamophobia has replaced Anti-Semitism. I have said at least three times in this thread that I think Islamophobia is real.Fen321 wrote:

First I am pro-military - as a way of life - as way giving a man a life worth living. The military is honorable and it is a necessity. He makes assumptions that merely reveal his utter lack of depth.
While being pro-military - I am certainly not pro-stupid-use of the military.
