Really, from what I have heard this has only been recently announced. I've checked out some of his stuff before, when he was doing the bear armor stuff, but this looked too over-the-top to not make a post.

I think this guy is a nutter for thinking people will actually use this in the field, but its cool to see someone finally make one of these things. He just hurts his credibility by putting flashing lights and the like on it.

Seriously, what possessed him make it look that cool, and then go and put a clock on the crotch, I'll never know. I think it might be better accepted if it wasn't being offered by a kook. Man means well, but....

Saw that on /. a week or so ago. Looks awesome from the video. It'd be cool if they really did start to test it in the field, as any extra protection I'm sure would be welcome. I can't imagine that it'll be in use soon, but I'm sure in the not so far future they'll be using this kinda of stuff.

Yeah its real. This guy has this line of Suits called Ursus, that are designed to withstand grizzly bear attacks, because he wanted to study grizzlies up close. He sell tested everything too. (picture guy in astronaut like suit getting hit by a truck with a matress strapped to the front at 40MPH).

Yknow, I can realistically see exoskeletal armor being the next step in troop defense, but it has a lot of issues that make it a reality. It has to be light, it has to properly protect the joints and still leave the soldier relatively unhindered in his movement, it has to be environmentally controlled, and not just the helmet, it has to have a much bigger field of vision than the stupid little strip he's got, and overall, it needs to be effective. Also a HUD would be nice.

I do think he has some good ideas, comm system in the helmet, laser pointer, flashlight on helmet.

Its just stuff like the blinking lights and the crotch clock that make me chuckle.
