If you topple the US, China will likely take its place. I doubt it'd be in the interests of Australia to have China as the dominant world power.
On the contrary, export costs would be a lot cheaper.

It's rare that I agree with usmarine2007, but I can find fault with those who are giving rather ignorant opinions of Americans.

Mostly generalizations, stereotypes with warrant that somehow Americans are a lesser people. Frankly, I find that offensive. If there is one nation that is most like Canada, it is the United States of America. We are friends, and we are nearly the same people, with the same culture. These insults against my friends, the Americans, are particularly infuriating, ones that I often hear from other Canadians. Perhaps too often.

Do I support the entirety of the States' government, or their foreign policies? No. But that is a reasonable stance, one of politics, instead of a hatred that seems so difficult to sympathize with.

I think the EU are far more likely to fill the role the US plays. The EU has a much bigger economy than China (or the US for that matter) as well as a much stronger military (small compared to the USs though).

Judging on how the EU doesn't like to exercise military power, I doubt they'd want to take a superpower role. Besides, China's economy in the next few decades will at the least closely rival the US's.

Look, When i was young, i loved America, most Aussies did, Indiana Jones,Star Wars,Arnie, seemingly righteous nation...but something happened in the U.s during the 90's...i dont know what..

As an outsider, it was easy to notice the change in your media/Tv from passive arrogance to agressive arrogance..to "i dont care about anyone else except me" arrogance.

That last one is dangerous.American media came to Australia with a smile on its face, but after a while became an arrogant abuser.. paving the way for your culture maybe?...crime,drugs,prostitution,corruption

Maybe Americans are unclear about their affect on allied countries... Australia had its own identity before America, but now we are literally pressured to become American(in ideals) ..no media evers says so, but since the introduction of the internet here, there has been a massive increased amount of sexual assualts against young girls AND boys!
Gang rape is very common here in Australian cities now, although it had been VERY rare before, in the 80's people could leave doors unlocked(even in the cities!), now most have alarms, bars on windows and less public transport/ more petrol use...sounds like a lot of U.s companies made a mint off us.....

Your coercion is not appreciated.

What's wrong with a superpower that exercises restraint? Sounds ideal to me.

Chinese super power will be good. I think its going to be far more beneficial to the world than the US ever has been. They arent going to be a "superpower" in the sense you even understand, they will have economic power thats it, they arent going to suddenly have millions of nuke and go around being wankers trying to police the world, unlike our current superpower.
I would think that now that the world is becoming more globalized, that the idea of a superpower will and should go away.  It would be a lot easier to take care of business if it was not limited to one country, but multiple countries participating.  I think that's why this poll is significant - to highlight opposition.  Irregardless if you agree or disagree on Iraq, the overall consensus on the action would have prevented massive opposition.  So no, I don't think that if it shifted to another country that it would be "better" or "worse", just more of the same.

Which news agency isn't? (biased I mean, not to the left)

BBC, AP and Reuters are the least biased in my opinion (and I'd imagine most other peoples).

In fact the BBC have special independent commitees to try to keep their stuff as unbiased as possible, which I think is highly commendable.

Two things are made clear by this poll and many others.

We need to stop fucking with the world militarily, and we should save our funds and soldiers for self-defense.

Fuck Africa and the Middle East.  Oil is something we are very capable of moving away from -- we just need to spend more on alternative energy research and domestic oil production.  We won't need two-faced allies like Saudi Arabia and Israel if we just stay out of that mess over there.

Well, those were 6 pages of "My cock is bigger than yours" and "My country doesn't suck like yours", etc.
What is the problem with you people?  This is just a poll about "American foreign policy" not about "How much America sucks", you need to differentiate.
The BBC has conducted a very serious poll, as always, but it never mentioned something about American citizens or America itself.  It's all about this BS administration, which has deteriorated America's image around the World, because of its foreign policies.  That's it and forget about Anti-Americanism in this forum.  Worry about the rise of Anti-Americanism out of this forum.
And shame on you, the few Americans who hasn't contributed to improve that image in this thread.  And the same goes to the non Americans who joined the trolling and flaming.
My respect to Kmarion, who behaved all the time and worried to improve America's image with his always moderate and intelligent posts.  +1 Kmarion.

It's so easy to blame your problems on others.  Isn't it?  That way you don't have to take responibility for them.  You compain about American's arraogance, maybe you  should look in the mirror.  Blaming America for your problems is a cop out.  Australia's first people were criminals, sent there from other countries, they just needed an excuss to do the crimes and blame someone else.  I mean really, the internet?  I know not all Australians are that influenced by the media.  And by saying the internet/media is to blame for your problems, then I guess that makes you a bunch of sheep.

Wow, sergeriver making another thread bashing America? Never saw that coming. Instead of actually saying it this time, he's using a poll of stupid Brits.

Who cares? Our country is attacked and we're constantly threatened. Instead of sitting on our asses, we're taking the fight to them and the world hates us for it.

taking the fight to them BADLY while wasting laves and treasure on pointless excursions to the desert. You ask who cares? Those of us who still use our brains and can remember when this country actually had some respect in the world. Its a shame you don't care that our country looks like an international asshat as of late, but some of us do.

Kneejerk dumbass responses which show that you don't think more than 10 sec ahead is pretty much the example. Did you vote for the dumbass Bush 2x too? Just because foreign policy may be hard for you to understand doesnt mean it doesn't matter.
