How to play Wake Airshow

once thats down, double click it and extract the files to your Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Levels folder.

Then fire up bf2, untick ranked in the browser and enter part of the name in the box above the maps (eg airshow will find all the wake airshow maps).

Now usually people go on in the evenings and they can be empty sometimes but if so try again. Or if you need to practice flying where all the planes and helos in bf2 are available then this is your map.

weekend thread!

Was good to see a couple of you from this forum on there yesterday- dont forget its always there.

Oh and the servers do crash from time to time, dont worry its nothing you did just go back to the browser and pick another, youll see players moving from one to the other as the servers crash or go quiet.

Lastly if you want to do Stunts or mess about with the J10 just tell everyone and they will (usually) leave you alone.

The only server thats ever populated is the TLD one and I get high ping in there so my missles never hit!

Yeah the TLD one is popular but others get used too- Bihnet is good aswell (no external views on that one- makes it much harder)- and you could always use guns .

@Ajax, yeah keep trying, it could have crashed as you were joining, its not uncommon.

And what is it? a real round with kills, or a nice sky with full of jet flying around with fancy colors ?

It's a real round. The jets have those fancy colors and all of that, but it's basically pure air combat. Lots of jets, lots of air-to-air (there's one J-10 that's hard to get out of the cage it is in, but when it gets out most everyone goes after it lol).

No no really its great- it gives you more chances to creep up on people, that way you can get your attitude and speed correct without them spotting you, then open up on them and the fight begins. During combat its harder to keep track of them but also they dont know when theyve lost you so its a complete tradeoff.

Of course you have the same problems in reverse but overall the rounds are faster paced and it allows you to practice things differently- try half hour on BIH when Lords or TLD crashes.

Wake Airshow is alot of fun! If you enjoy jets (choppers too) and dogfighting in particular, don't play only for stats, don't like the tking that takes place on regular servers for the vehicles, etc. then this is the place to be.

It can get a little chaotic when the servers are busy and you'll have to watch out for mid-air collisions. The skill levels of people that play seem to widely vary which is nice to see --- it's not just beginners and not only pros that usually play the map.

The first three are most commonly played on, the christian server is sometimes locked, sometimes not

these 2 are newer, no idea about them, other ones come and go but the first 3 are the main ones atm.

Dont forget to uncheck ranked if you look with the bf2 browser

Every airshow server is offline so is there more of those?
If i write airshow on server name search slot it wont give any results.

Edit:nvm just write "air" without quotes.
