I don't like the look of the chipset on the mobo. The 965 chipset isn't great. For high FSBs go for a 650i or even better a 680i.

hey,

that ASUS mobo does support c2d... though it doesn't support SLI  (2 x 16xPCI-E), i think nearly ever mobo that has a Intel chipset does not support SLI, it does support crossfire though same with the one i recommended
(which is two ATI cards)...... $415 are you crazy!!!!!! if you are going to get a Intel chipset get this mobo has everything the ASUS one has and is alot cheaper, http://www.scorptec.com.au/product/20500

also if you look here http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/10/11/ … age15.html
you will see that this is the best of the 975X range.

so with either of those mobos you can have 2 video cards in as long as they are ATI,
if you are really keen for a SLI setup then you would be better off having a look at the 650i mobos.
http://www.scorptec.com.au/product/21326

or because you seem to have the money a 680i.. http://www.scorptec.com.au/product/21155

anyway man good luck.

Sorry, I didn't mean you.

But your chipset isn't great either now I look at it.

This is what I run:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813188009
It's very nice.

The Asus Striker Extreme looks pretty nice too, but it's very expensive.

Yes. Very nice. But also rather expensive. For just as good, possibly slightly better, performance you could get the EVGA one I posted in my last post.

The Asus board is very good though and has lots of very nice features, like glow in the dark ports to avoid fumbling around the back of your PC and DTS connect, which re-encodes audio to DTS in realtime.

600W. Make sure you get a decent one though. PSUs can vary drastically from manufacturer to manufacturer. Seasonic, Enermax and Tagan all make pretty good ones.

Madiz, I'm going with a E6400 because I've heard from a number of sources that the E6600 it's much better but costs alot more.
Edit: Sorry, I meant to say it ISN'T much better but costs more. ie Not worth the extra money.

newegg sells that card for US$249 excluding tax. That's AUD $315. Or $346.50 after adding GST. So I reckon if I pay $335 we can call it even

Get a kilowatt PSU, you can't go wrong with that.

Yeah. Just on PSUs. Is 550W enough for 2 video cards? If not, what about 650W?

I was going to get a Cooler Master. I know they're not the most highly regarded brand name, but does anyone know if they're any good?
