Holy shit somebody posted an epic novel!
I'm sorry, but I just can't be fucked to read it, even though I would probably agree with you.

Oh and BTW this is a simple explanation of these philosophical arguments... i wrote this, and i am only a 17 year old senior in high school and an amateur in philosophy... so there are even better explanations than mine...

plz explain??? how is not believing is something (evolution) that have very little credibility dumb when all the evidence points to a God...

for all you evolutionists... how can the human brain remember events that are 7+ years in the past, one must remember also that the Human Brain replaces all of its cell in a 7 year time-frame... that means that you have an entirely different brain now than you did when the even occurred; and if cells replicate be making exact copies of themselves how can you remember the past??? plz explain that... my Christian explanation is that it is truly your SOUL that is you identity not you brain... therefore your soul is actually your memory.

Well, wouldn't it basically be something like; before the old hard disk gets replaced by the new hard disk, the data on the old hard disk, gets transferred to the new hard disk.. but than with cells?
I mean; taking on your opinion that the data gets lost once your brain cells die and are replaced, than that would ALSO mean that all other data would be lost to.. In other words; wouldn't you lose everything else you know (how to do)? Wouldn't you lose the ability to speak/write/etc. ?
I think that the data just gets transferred onto the new cells when they get replaced.. Therefore not losing your memory..

good point but cells replicate themselves EXACTLY, they do not change in the replication proccess unless they become cancerous (then killed by white blood cells) so that cannot be the explination...

Actually, memory is formed by the connections BETWEEN braincells.

Science can come into conflict with itself, and the same applies to religion. So why is it surprising when science and religion clash?

Hmm.. I don't know, I'm an economist, not a scientist..
OK, I seriously don't know how, but I presume that nature has found a way to pass on data from old/dying cells to the replacing cells..
But let's just say that it is indeed as you said; your soul = memory. Than why don't you have to relearn your abilities to speak / write / swim / ride a bycicle / ... every time your cells are replaced with new ones?
And these are basic human actions that every normal human can do if they have learned these, and they don't just forget them, unless they have an accident or so that leads to brain damage to the parts of the brain that contains this information. If you receive brain damage to a certain part of the brain that controlls speach for example, you will lose the ability to speak. Which show that only those cells contained that data, and now that they're lost, you no longer have the ability to speak. Wouldn't this mean that the data that allows you to speak IS indeed passed on from old to new cells?
If so, can't you asume that the same works for the human memory?

Of course what you remember, and what you don't remember and what determines this.. THAT I don't know

very good point... you can remember everything apart from physical limits because the soul is not constrained by the body... yes brain damage does affect the memory and physical attributes because the body and soul are united, as in brain damage, you can no longer speak, but in you mind you can still imagine what you would like to speak...so you then write your thoughts... obviously even though your body is limiting you, your soul is still active... get my drift?

Ha! Well.. There you do have a point! Hmm.. Well than there is only 1 more thing I can say, and it is actually more of a question; How do you explain that your soul can't just simply remember things that happened in your early childhood.. But sometimes, through help of hypnosion or such, those memories can be revived? I asume that hypnosion only works on the brain, and not on the soul (if it would work on the soul, that'd be a really scary thought..).. I would like to hear your opinion on this?

And one more thing, which kind of is my 'last stand' statement that proves that nature is smart enough to build in some sort of data transfer onto new cells before the cells die;
Seeing how people can lose their memories, and you say that soul = memory. Does that mean that those people lose their soul? I would hope not.. Because a person without a soul = not a person.

(BTW, in case you wonder what I believe the soul is; I believe that the soul is more a combination of feelings and experiences which are obviously consequence of certain memories/things that happened than simple data)

oh, i am glad you believe ppl have souls *sigh of relief* lol ... i don't know much about hypnotism so i cant answer that...but about ppl loosing their memories, well since the body and soul are intertwined, massive damage to the brain could probably make you loose contact with your previous memories. (btw many ppl who loose their memories can, with concentration and physiological help regain them)

I liked your essay man, although I don't agree with several things there. But what you are saying here is totally bogus. Neurons, the brain cells that do the actual "processing" and "memory storage" do not regrow at all. Dead neurons stay dead, there is alot of research trying to make them regrow specially stem cells. This is the major problem with brain damage, in many cases it is non reversible.

As evolution having little credibility, you are entirely mistaken. Just inform yourself about paleontology or bacterial evolution.

How come Evolution has very little credibility?  You are denying one of the most proven theories of all times.  You may have written an essay, but you are still wrong.

ok if it is so "proven" prove it. you can't. there is no way possible that life originated from lifeless matter, not to mention where the matter came from... lol even if we all did come from monkeys, God started the entire process by creating the original matter...

that is unless you want to try proving that something can come from nothing without contradicting yourself, and that the something (which just appeared out of nothing) can then break all the laws of nature and physics by just "coming to life" and ,even though it includes breaking the law of entropy, evolves into a higher life form... lol good luck proving that...

Here's an idea Isaac:

You say that in 7 years I will have an entirely new brain. I say that in 130 years, everybody who is alive today will have died. In 130 years there will be an entirely new population of this planet. In fact, in 80-90 years this will already happen for the most part. If only it were possible to completely hide religion from a new generation. If only you lot wouldn't be there to pass on your absolute bullshit, we could have a more rational future.
