Fix the bugs where server screens will suddenly switch back to the main menu. It's so annoying to load a map and then disconnect because the menu came up as you pressed 'join'.

See, there's the problem:  If you had the jet.

Jets are just one of those things that are way too difficult to get a hold of.  Anyways, you're right.  I don't see any reason to make the jets less effective against ground troops.

However, I would propose that jets and choppers should be a WHOLE LOT EASIER to hear than they are.  I find it sad that you can hear distant gun fire quite easilly, but a chopper can damn near creep up behind you.

I would like to see AA vehicles (not fixed AA units) have a radar (UAV) constantly centered on them (like the little bird choppers), so that they can track aircraft.  Afterall, it's kinda wrong that aircraft HUDs display friendly and enemy vehicles (even amongst ground cover like trees), but AA can't "see" enemy aircraft with some type of radar.

Jello.01 wrote:

....  Don't NOT allow chopper soloing. Deal with it. You probably suck if you're whining about such a small thing. An experienced chopper crew can take down a solo pilot easily.  ....
I completely DISAGREE with this one.  There are a number of issues wrong with this:

1.  It let's one person hog a chopper, when two could (and should) be using it.  Thus, it's not only the other team's problem, but the same team's problem.

2.  Finding an experienced chopper crew is a rare commodity.  When (and IF) you have one, it's great!  Even better is:  IF you do have an experienced crew... having that crew take the time to "mix it up" with the enemy chopper, instead of enemy ground targets (the same can be said about the majority of jet-whores out there, too).

3.  Solo pilots can find ground targets easier visually, and eliminate those targets by manually controlling the TV missile at an astonishing range.  On the flipside, AT rockets and TOW missiles have limited control range, and are considerably too slow to chase a chopper.  Also, AA heat-seeking rockets can't lock on to choppers where the high flying solo-pilots like to hover (even though you can plainly see them).  It's bad enough having solo-pilots around, but to not give anyone else the tools needed to at least have a fighting chance against them is even worse.

Of course, I can understand your interest in preserving the choppers the way that they are.  You have a lot of time invested in them.  So, on that note...

Let me preserve something of interest for me:

Jello.01 wrote:

....  Ahh! and claymores, fix those claymore whoring bitches! Let them be destroyed by something explosive. I mean, how many times have you seen an engineer disable one while in fierce combat?  ....
Only 21% of my sniper kit kills are made up with claymores, and another 62% of them are made up of sniper rifle kills.  The majority of my pistol and knife kills are attributed to the sniper kit, and the remaining percentage is likely made up of grenade kills.

Thus, I'm a hardcore sniper, and not a claymore whore ( much... ).

That being said, I'd have to say that A LOT of my teamkills can probably be attributed to pre-FF-OFF on mines and claymores, AND...  A large number of those teamkills resulted in a TK Punish that was unjustified.  All because some retard wasn't paying attention to the warning sign (I almost never put them in areas likely to hurt teammates).

Let alone the times that I've joined a squad, had the squad leader give up their position, find myself the squadleader, then having a squadmate spawn directly behind me, then subsequently TK them with the claymore that was protecting my back, and THEN being punished for it.

THEN...

To top it off, it's a server option that can be set to the admins' desires, and is thus not built into the game as a canon standard of play.  If players don't like claymores blowing them up all the time, at least they have the option of finding a server that has that option not in effect.

So... A Summary Of Some Of What I'd Like To See In The Next Patch:

Beyond many of the bug/glitch fixes already mentioned...

1.  Radar on AA.

2.  Choppers and Aircraft being easier to hear.

3.  The possible return of claymore-clearing grenades.

4.  Solo-choppering and chopper seat switching being not possible (I really did hate getting that hard headshot with the M95, only to see the gunner take control, and fly back to retrieve the pilot back at base  ).

Edit:  For sentence flow.

Archon, what if nobody on the team wants to use the chopper except a skilled soloer? Why let a perfectly good asset go to waste, or worse, be used by the enemy? If the redlining fix is put in, then anyone can jump in the chopper.

SNIPER RIFLE MODIFICATION -- Can the crosshairs of the M24, M95, and T88 be slightly thinner (towards the L96A1's). This will make it more practical to use said rifles for the longer distance shots, whereas now the L96 is undeniably the best for the farthest ranged shots.

Even with a better cross hair on those rifles, the L96A1 rifle will always be superior because of its deadly accuracy and overall effectiveness.

Let SAM batteries (IGLA, Stinger, Essex) lock on once aircraft come into visual range. Players have even had times where a square appears around the aircraft but no lock on until they're already able to easily kill the guy in the AA.

you have this in there twice.

Because it's much more likely that you're gonna find a pair of players wanting to use the chopper, than have a skilled soloer.

Hurricane wrote:

As I mentioned before, solo pilots often enjoy the luxory of flying out of any real danger by hovering high up(out of effective weapon/target-locking ranges), but can represent a real danger to the other team's assets.  Thus, solo pilots make the opposing team's assets "go to waste", and the opposing team has little chance to do anything about it (no matter their overall skill level).

I'd rather die to a stolen chopper with a gunner, than die in an AA vehicle from a solo-pilot that I can't lock on with heat-seeking missiles, or who runs back to base, out of visual range, the moment he takes a couple of bars of hard-earned flak damage (which is affected by bullet drop and leading a target).

redlining is where you stick the gunner of your chopper out of the map so he gets killed for "Leaving the battlefield" and you can go off and Solo away.

Imo, to fix it they should make it so if the gunner is getting damage, so is everyone in the vehicle.

I know it's a bit tedious but read the original post before posting please. If you did you'd see I've suggested that AA locks on when aircraft are in visual range, and that the redlining be fixed the way gene_pool said it should be.

Yeah, when I began the post, it was on page one, and the majority of my thoughts were centered on the solo-choppering reason for improved range on AA.

Personally, I don't have too much of a problem with the locking-range on AA...

Except when it involves high hover, solo-piloting.

Honestly I'm kind of worried. Everytime BF2 is patched it creates new bugs. If EA/Dice patch the game again we might be stuck with a even more buggy patch. If I had to choose a couple of  fixes they would be would be the squad bug, and the sniper scope bug.

Increase armor on WZ-11 and EC-635, damage on cannons, or both.

Increase armor on all the attack jets.

Increase the damage on the attack jets cannons towards tanks. They don't do crap unless you hang and shoot at it for about 15 seconds, and that only takes like half their health. Frogfoot should do the most damage though.

A flag at the Cul-de-sac in Road Rage 64 would be nice, and RIBs at the MEC main/airfield.

Everything else you said I agree with for the most part.

A few suggestions for all us snipers-

1. have a choice of what kind of ghile suit you wish to wear. Some maps have terrain that does everying BUT blend with the suit (ex: American snipers on Chinese maps-you have a TAN ghile suit, and your surroundings are mostly green foliage.)

2. Exempting snipers from appearing on an enemy commander satellite scan. whereas this is a major advantage, it coincides with real life because in actual militarys a sniper's ghile suit is designed to make the sniper not give off much of a heat signiture. also it is quite a waste when the enemy commander drops a supply care or vehicle on a lone sniper, making it quite a waste of resources. And somtimes commanders waste an ENTIRE artillery strike for 1 lone sniper, therefore wasting a valuable asset as well.

2 (a). Although snipers should be exempted from appearing on satellite scans, they should not be exempt from appearing on uavs, and should still be able to been seen by commanders by zooming in completely on the commander interface map.

3. Snipers should be able to pick up their claymores after laying them, but only if they do it carefully by picking it up in the back. this is quite useful for snipers because they are constantly changing positions to avoid detection.
____________________________________________________--
Other suggestions beside sniper ones-
1. When a FAV is bearing down on you at full speed, if you went prone it should pass over you and NOT kill you, unless the driver makes a swerve and a tire connects with you.

and also, suggestions to help everyone, including EA. **FIX LAG ISSUES, AND TEST THE PATCH THOROUGHLY BEFORE RELASING IT!(Please please do test the patch to the max EA, for the sake of all of us and furture patches. Try to fix everything in one clean sweep.)**
The lag problem for players has increased with the release of patch 1.41, as i remember the patches before made the game run much smoother online.

Bugs:
1. When you're not a medic, and you pick up a medic kit to heal yourself, the 'healing-sound' will go on indefinately, even after you've been killed and revived. The same goes for the resupply-sound you get when picking up a support kit to throw some ammo bags on the floor, if the support guy threw a couple of nades the sound will keep on going. Doesn't happen all the time, might only be on SF, I don't think I've ever had these problems on vanilla.
2. On Iron Gator, when flying in the hangar bay with your chopper, the flagstatus isn't shown properly. It looks like it's not neutralizing, eventhough it is. Goes for both flags.
3. On SF the sprintbar goes dodgy sometimes, it's shown as full (as it should be), but it doesn't let you run.
4. Sometimes you go through the whole reloading routine but you still end up with the same amount of bullets in your magazine. Happens a lot with the GL and SRAW/RPG. (I think someone else already mentioned this).
5. The laserguided missiles in the bomber jets.
6. Sometimes after you click the 'Join game' button and you're selecting a spawnpoint it goes back to menu and you have to press escape to go back to the game.
7. When you're reloading the DAO, then switch to pistol, then switch back to the DAO it sometimes keeps doing the reloading routine (but not decreasing your bullets).
8. Sometimes the shooting sound of people around you gets "stuck", it sounds like they're shooting constantly without reloading. Doesn't go away until they actually shoot. Only happens with rifles.
9. When you're commanding and you do a scan, people that are sitting in the F2/F3/F4 position of a car (or any vehicle?) don't show up.
10. People/vehicles spotted by you or teammates sometimes show up as friendly on the map, or at least the map you get when you press Caps Lock, I never use 'm'.

Other:
1. Add more filters (eg friendly fire, serversize, min/max players)
2. Auto-mutiny commanders that don't do their job (don't use any of the assets for a certain number of minutes eventhough they aren't destroyed + don't respond to requests). Make this an option that server admins can turn on/off.
3. Make the guns on the SF choppers do more damage, it can take ages to destroy a boat or car. Make the missiles have less splash damage.
4. Don't make a disconnect count as a death. I want to be able to spawn on a squadleader when I get back on the server.
5. Adjust the volume of the MEC/Insurgent commander, he pisses me off.
6. Have an unranked pistol/knife/defib mode. (No vehicles and no proper weapons)
7. Adjust the DAO, having to reload it all the way to 12 before being able to shoot again is silly.
8. Make smoke grenades produce more smoke.
9. Ammo points should be more difficult to get, repair points easier.
10. When accepting to join a squad (when you get invited), leave current squad and join that one, don't make me do it myself. Really annoying if the squad is closed and you have to ask to be invited again.
11. Have a waiting period option, which means that the game starts after X minutes of changing the map, giving players with slower pcs more chance of getting their vehicle of choice because everyone (or at least more people) will spawn at the same time.

That's all I can think of atm.

I'm sure nothing will be done with it...

Claymores: Turn FF on for them but, let snipers be able to pick them back up. This might encourage the defensive use they were intended for. Might be nice to see enabled for C4 as well.

M95 Tweaks -
Increase the damage done to a vehicle  if you hit it in the engine,  3 bars damage, but .5 damage to the chassis.
Allow the M95 to shoot through tree's and other light objects, this is an Anti Material Rifle that can put a hole though a V8 engine block, but cant piece a tree in game.

Sniper Tweaks -
Snipers Should be able to disarm other snipers Claymores, as well as be able to destroy them with a  gun shot.
Add more detail to the Ghillie Suit that the sniper is out fitted in, make it more Real Life style.

Have a choice of what kind of ghile suit you wish to wear. Some maps have terrain that does everying BUT blend with the suit (ex: American snipers on Chinese maps-you have a TAN ghile suit, and your surroundings are mostly green foliage.) - Brilliant Idea  (cfschris)

Grenade Launchers -
Change the damage radius of the explosion, there is no way that you would be able to survive a GL shot to the feet, 1.0 GL damage was perfect.

Black Hawks Miniguns -
Fix the damn things, 1.12 was perfect.  You Tube "Minigun" and see how bad ass they really are.

Transport Choppers -
Give them Winches as they did in BF Vietnam,  this was an excellent feature.

In 2142, you can pick up your own claymores by pressing G, i can't remember if you could pick up enemies. But it was a good idea, so you could move positions as sniper without having to get a resupply and re-deploy your clay's.

1. The rear would approximate that best, but include tracks as well. A .50 BMG round can seriously mess up a road wheel.

2. The disarm is good, the gunshot, less so. Why only theirs?

3. Or make it auto-change as per the map. Even though it's amusing to see walking bushes trotting around the desert, and tumbleweeds scuttling around swamps.

4. Winch = stationary = ground fire. A droppable, climbable rope, on the other hand, would be a good thing. Add far less risk to action-movie leaps from buildings to get in a chopper.
(Incidentally, I very much appreciate the guy that let me do that earlier. Extremely helpful of you, whoever you are.)

The G36E should be made such that it is an alternative gun in the medic class rather then the ultimate gun. It's an M16++. In real life, the G36E is generally more accurate then the m16, but weighs more. I recommend making the gun great while standing still / prone and using the sights, but less accurate then the M16 when used spraying a praying.

Also, some guns' sights in BF2 are off.
The MEC pistol is well off the center, you have to hit above the sight
the PLA pistol is pequilar, where bullets go is in the center of the bump of the sight
The G3 is slightly off
The MG36 is very off, where the shots go well below the top of the sights.
Belive it or not, the G36E is slightly off.

I am a supporter of making claymores destructable with grenades, or some form of explotion. It'll reduce claymore spamming.

I think the Grenade Launcher should be made a little stronger. Back when it was, it gave a good use of the Assault class. As the game stands in 1.41, the only good use of the Assault class is the G3 (or F2000 because you get flashbangs). Back when people complained about them, you could jump and use them, and any veteran FPS player will say that a Grenade Launcher becomes twice as useful when you can jump and use them. The current limitation on jumping makes the GL naturally less effective, their current blast power is going alittle too far.

As the topic said in the start. The F35B's hitbox should be fixed to balance it with the other jets. This would make Wake Island much more balanced.

Oh yeah, and as may people said, the hitboxes should be tweeked so I don't have to shoot 2 feet behing people to kill them.
