AMD64 3000+ should be enough juice, but you might want a FX because the 64 is getting outdated. AMD is getting owned by Intel these days, I'd take a C2D now, but you never know what AMD might come up with.

I wouldn't buy a vid card yet, because the Nvidia 8600 is due in March, I'd wait for that one.

If you aren't planning anything for the future, AMD64 3000+ and Nvidia 7600gt will do the trick for you if you have 2 gigs of RAM. (I run everything on high except for textures and terrain because I only have 1 gig RAM).

I have a AMD athlon 3800+, Nvidia 7600 GT and 1 gig of ram..and it allmost enables me to play on high..just a few medium things and no AA..2 gigs would enable the other things on high..I do not know about the AA..but you can turn quality of the game to high and such in the Nvidia control panel which enables also AA but on a weaker scale (it only does buildings and such) and not the shadows, which is better IMO..anyone thats what I use and its sweet even with 1 Gig..2 gigs would probably we good

thank you , what kind of hard drive would you reccomend, im thinking about that new 320gig drive with the 16mb cache as opposed to a raptor.

everything on high is just eye candy... you dont really need it

i have an amd 3200 a 7800gt and i run everything on low except geometry on high (lets you see tanks/choppers that are far away) and texture on med at 4x aa and i get like 90 fps on 32 players or less servers and on 64 player servers with 30 people on the screen a jet bombing and arty coming down it may hit 40 fps and i load into the game super fast so i can always get some sort of vehicle....usually

i could run on all high but it would start to lag on 64 player servers and it will take longer to load... and im a whore like that so i need some sort of vehicle

thanx for the info man, im looking for a little eye candy since i enjoy this game so much and i also plan on playing BF 2142 all full settings also.

i know what you mean about being first in a server to get a vehicle, i personally like the chopper either to gun or fly so i can rack up a bunch of kills right from the get go.

im looking at an AMD X2 3800+ with dual graphics cards prolly 7600GS or 7900GS at 256MB
prolly 2 gigs of RAM and one of those new sata drives at 320 gigs with the 16 MB cache as opposed to one of the raptors drives.

i cant wait to play this game again

thanx again for all the info

cheers

even though im not sayin you shud but gettin the AM2 X2 seems a waste of money IMO

unless you are planning to multitask, which i dont think you are they i wouldnt go with a X2

like everyone is sayin the 64's are a good option for gaming

anything from the AMD 64 3500+ range is good

personally if it was me if it was basic id have the AMD 64 3700+ San Diego as it has the 1MB Cache

thats will do the job nicely

dont get me wrong though a X2 would be nice, but i think your wasting money on something you dont really need.

I had an AMD 64 3000+, with 2GB and an 7800GT,  I ran everything on high @ 1280 * 1024 resolution @ 2X AA.  I never had any visual lag in FPS.  I only got slight lag when playing Iron Gator with 64 players...Im still using my 7800GT with a 4600+,  and there is no difference at all.

I say get a 7900GT and get the best cpu u can afford with the rest of the money.
