It's my opinion that you are a piece of work to hold such conflicting views as to believe simultaneously in not casting judgement, yet write off thousands of talented individuals as unworthy of recognition by an institution which was never even supposed to be "rock'n'roll" only. It was a mainly a request for an explanation, not a flame, as I am more than willing to change my view should you justify your position (which you have so far not done).

But if you want examples of flames, just read a few lowing posts. You could quote your favourite excepts from them and add some smilies, just so we can be sure that you approve of flaming as long as it's by someone who agrees with you.

Now can you all stop trying to trash the thread because don't even understand the very thing you are trying to debate. IT'S NOT A ROCK-ONLY THING. Ok?

Why don't you go and make a "Real Rock Only Hall of Fame" if you disagree with the philosophy of the existing one so much?

it's opening a door that i don't think ought to be opened. they should start a rap hall of fame. I have a biz markee album myself. oldschool rap isn't bad. it's what it became. it's like saying we'll induct black sabbath but not slipknot. you can't let in the building block of a genre without welcoming what the genre has become.

Rock and Roll IS Rhythm and Blues depending on who you ask.

No actually I am not referring to any one song. I hate that shit not because of the words, I hate that shit because it is SHIT. For the record I don't death metal, and can barely stand heavy metal even. But at least Metalica isn't out killing each other on the streets and in the clubs for the "BLING" that is around their necks.

I don't care that anyone elses kids adopts these idiots for roll models. Personal Responsibility. My kids don't. That is all that matters. Rap does not belong in a rock and roll hall of fame, and Metallica does not belong in a rap hall of fame. Get over it.

I always call things how I see them, man. I've never stated I’m against judging anything or anyone by a reasonable standard. I have also clearly explained that I don’t think any style of music belongs in the rock and roll hall besides rock. That is the only reason an artist of any other style (rap, country, etc) should not get in. Not because they lack talent. Re-read my posts if my views are unclear and if you’re still worked up, seek professional help.

3 out of 10 of the first artists to be honoured were not "rock and roll" musicians (James Brown, Ray Charles, Sam Cooke). I just assumed that, knowing this, you were saying that rap music (even rap which can directly trace it's evolution from rock and roll via funk and disco) shouldn't be honoured as having influenced the public and the industry, even though many of the elements present which did not come from an evolution from rock and roll were actually even present in many styles which lead to rock'n'roll.

And don't forget that Rock is just another style which evolved from Rock'n'Roll, and if Rock'n'Roll's descendants don't deserve to be honoured, then pretty much anything released past the late 50's needs to be removed.
