Agreed. unless you plan on camping, or are long range from your target, don't go prone. However if you're at point blank, go prone and all the bullets go sailing OVER your head, as opposed to THROUGH it. Just pray the guy falls for it.

My overall Accuracy is 31.00 %. It took a bit to learn who to shoot the guns, but you learn quickly. I thought the same as you in regards to the guns, but now im pretty happy.
