Last night I was 2nd place on my team in a round, but my team lost. Didn't receive a silver star. I was under the impression my team didn't have to win since it doesn't show in the requirements when you mouseover the silver star on this site in your stats, but am I wrong?

Second place = Second place..Second place = Silver star, End of story..

only the top 3 players from both teams combined, gets a medal.. eg. # 1 from MEC and # 2 and 3 from US
You as an individual need to be 2nd place in a round.
You have to be in second place overall on the server, both teams are included not just you're own team.

Commanders with their 2x count also....
yes you need to be second, (ALL players Included ingame, also Commander AFTER their x2 bonus)
