The invasion and occupation of Iraq appears to be an unremittingly grim failure and general debacle. ATG seems to allude in his 'touching' tribute to a fallen hero that the blame lies with the Democrat party, rather oddly. He blames them, as the opposition party for the past 12 years, for being 'in opposition' as he put it. He seems to skirt over the fact that they didn't have the voting power to overturn any decision made by the Republican party for quite some time. They have been in control of the Senate and Congress for approximately 12 days.

What say you in the blame-game?

For me: George W. Bush, his advisors, the Republican party for going along with it and 51% of the American public for swallowing the bullshit he is now openly apologising for and voting him in for a second term.

The Iraqi people for not getting their shit together, we did our job & took out the dictator. I'm sure syria & iran have their part in it , and finally the american people for being so lazy that they have no interest in their government anymore unless they are getting something from them which in turn releases our current government upon the world to do what they may.
We can't uphold our current laws, so what do they do? Make more laws that they cannot enforce.
The ball is in the iraqis hands now, what they do with it is another story.
And what the american people do with their government is another.
On a side note I thought personal attacks weren't aloud or I would have slammed you long ago Mr.poe.

That's not a personal attack. Me and ATG get along just fine. If you read my post I am criticising a thread of his - I'm not hurling insults at the man.

A combination of Bush and The Republicans, and also the leaders of the coalition of willing such as the Australian Liberal Party, British Labour Party, Tony Blair, John Howard etc for participating in this "coalition"

And if you don't think the Coalition has failed in "it's goal" then you are extremely detached from reality.

How about the Iraqi people, or the terrorists running around killing our troops and their own people?  How about the lack of support by other Governments who were willing to sit back and wag their fingers at Saddam, but not willing to step up when the time came?

How about the media for over-analyzing every little thing our troops do and effectively tying their hands behind their backs?  If our troops had been able to go in and do their job without having to worry that you are going to be shown all over the world as a criminal for spitting your gum in the street, we could have made it clear a long time ago that we meant business and we wouldn't be where we are now.

How about all you liberal little pricks who are too stupid to see that eventually the Iraqi people will be better off without a genocidal dictator breathing down their necks?

So basically everyone except those that executed the actual mission itself? LOL. Head in the sand.

PS I hardly think 'spitting your gum in the street' has the same gravity as torturing prisoners or slaying 24 innocents, including women and children, in an act of revenge in Haditha.

Yes because people who would rather DO something are evil/stupid compared to those who would rather talk about it and sit with their thumbs up their asses.

Why would not doing something about someone who posed no threat to your country necessitate sticking one of your appendages in your rectal passage?

How about the people that did not send enough troops to secure the country
How about the people that disbanded the Iraqi Army
How about the people that had no plan once Saddam was gone
How about the people who left this dictator you speak of in power over 10 years ago

Don't be shy with the blame, there is plenty to go round.

So, you're blaming Saddam for you failure to effectively take over his country?

In that case, can I blame Americans for the 9/11 attacks, for building a tower?

Yet you place no blame on the intelligence agencies who were supposed to find out what he was really up to?  And you ignore the fact that he said he had no weapons?  How about the GWB postured to be more capable than he was?

I blame the Intelligence Agencies for making up shit about the weapons Hussein was allegedly storing. (so I voted Other)

I blame GWB for acting pre-emptively when Blair was urging for another resolution.  I also blame GWB and TB for not giving the inspectors the time that they had requested.

And finally I blame the soldiers who acted outside their ROE and did shit like Abu Ghraib.  Those things only served to give political ammunition to the terrorists.

I do place blame on intelligence agencies. Somewhere you heard me say I don't? Ultimately if Saddam had complied we would not be there though.

He had opportunities.
http://www.state.gov/p/nea/rls/18728.htm

Saddam blocked the work of the Inspections teams numerous times. It would have been hard to go to war under the idea of WMD's if Saddam had allowed the weapons inspectors to do their job wouldn't it?

Supporting terrorist acts does not help neither.

Unfortunatly your theory is not logical considering the entire world had the same information. http://www.globalsecurity.org/intell/li … ll_toc.htm
