yay for arrow keys! they are what i've used since the beginning of computer games
what about the "W" ? The forward key should be most used, no?Smaug wrote:

JILK drops my palm squarely on the touchpad of my laptop, so WASD for me I guess.
Good reason.Donald O' Brien wrote:

'w' is worn on the lower portion, not a worn as -a,s,d-Nd4Spdr wrote:

Exactly the same situation here. I thought me and a couple of friends I know personally only use that. And that's mainly because I showed all but two of them.Krappyappy wrote:
i use esdf. it puts quite a few more keys in your reach without totally altering the feel of wasd.
Seriously, it really does add a whole extra set of buttons. They really come in handy too. I remember back in my Team Fortress Classic days, I had so many binds that I think there were maybe 3 buttons on my whole keyboard that didn't do anything. But still in BF2, I can easily do everything I need to do in combat just with my left hand. I can see what you mean by IJKL since it gives you a lot more keys but it's really not that comfortable. +1 For all ESDFers! Woo!
wasd is best, it places space right under ur thumb and shift under ur small finger. ctrl just below that. 3 large buttons which are used in every game as some primary feature.
Tbal Ftw!!!!!!
I dunno about you, but I find it particularly hard to use my thumb to press a letter key. I use my index finger. My thumb is solely for the space bar, whereas your pinky more than likely manages tab/Caps/shift/ctrl.Krappyappy wrote:
IJKL is pretty dumb. your pinky can't reach as far as your thumb, so your hand should be on the left half of the keybaord to compensate.
Totally different:
Forward - Right mouse
Shoot - Left mouse
Crouch - M
Prone - X
Strafe - < >
Reload- R
Scopes (Which I don't really use much anyway) - L
Jump - Space bar
I started using these controls in Quake then in ET, it just suites me

I use the arrow keys. IMO it is the best and easiest key setup.
Arrows = Movement
R Control = Sprint
R Shift = Jump
Enter = Enter/exit vehicles
0 (Numpad) = Prone
./Del (Numpad) = Crouch
1 (Numpad) = Flares/smoke for vehicles
4 (Numpad) = Reload
7 (Numpad) = Pickup kit
?/ = Comms
.> = Secondary comms
These are based on a UK keyboard . All keys are easily assessable without looking down. I also have 2 side buttons on my mouse; one for map (so I know what is around me) and one for crouch (so I can get back up from prone quicker). I also change my side mouse buttons to night vision goggles/gas mask when I play SF.

A UK keyboard? Never thought about it, but then we don't have the 'pound' symbol. $ above the 4. What else is different from us keyboard? (you probably have metric numbers....)
I'm not sure, I just thought I would add it just in case there are any differencesSmaug wrote:
