this may be posted already but i cant find my exact problem in other posts so here goes...

bf2 was working fine, i encountered a hardware problem so i decided to go ahead and get some new parts, got a new motherboard, and cpu.  reformatted, new copy of windowsxp, reinstalled bf2 and sf, patched to 1.41.  got my account retrieved.   now for the problems...

right after i installed bf2 for the first time after all this new stuff went in, i played for like ten minutes, then it stopped working, wouldn't go past the bf2 screen that pops up in windows right before the game loads, screen would go black like its goin to load the game, and boom-im back to windows and no bf2 is running.  i immediatley uninstalled and deleted all files and folders, and reinstalled bf2, then sf, then 1.41 patch.  still nothing, i've updated vid drivers, even rolled back a few driver releases, NOTHING HAPPENS 

so far i've reinstalled 4 times and to no avail.  im out of ideas, and im here hoping someone can help me, i'll say thank you for those with advice, really appreciate it    desperate for help guys

when u say u played for ten mins and then it stopped working...did it stop working while u were playing or did u encounter the problem after u had closed the game and then tried to restart it?

edit: ive had this prob with other games b4, on one occasion it was due to a directx conflict.  on my pc its usually because of various driver probs/conficts.  im at a loss as to why it would work at first and then stop tho.  usually the fact that it cant get past the loading screen in my experience tends to mean not having min specs but im presuming that u have lol since it started originally and u just upgraded.

might have summat to do with the hardware prob u had b4, but again im guessing u got new parts to replace the ones that were fubar

I have the same thing, I have tried every single possible thing to fix it that I can think of & still nothing. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, updated, virus scanned, spyware scanned, adware scanned, malware scanned, repatched, downloaded the newest drivers for everything & even reformatted my PC.....still nothing

I've read a few fixes, one has to do with uninstalling your graphics drivers, installing the ones from the BF2 CD, installing BF2 & then reinstalling your original drivers & I guess that's worked for a few people but not me of course

Seems the problem is only with NVIDIA, you have an nvidia card?

Btw mine started the same way too, i was playing then went out for a minute, came back & FAIL....no BF2
Also check your processes, mine CTD's after the splash screen but still rubns in my Processes, not "Applications" but the actual "Process's" tab...

Please let me know if you've fixed it & I'll let you know if I figure anything out. I'm waiting until 8:30 am California time to call EA & see what's up.

Seems like reinstalling BF2 creates problems for a lot of people. Maybe something's been left out of the 1.41 one-off patch and you have to install all the patches chronologically up to 1.41 like how the patches were released.
