OK having a problem....when I attempt to do the microphone test for the VOIP feature of BF2 I get nothing. I know it isn't my mic because I can use it while using my Yahoo Messenger. Was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if so....how you were able to fix it. Thanks in advance.
i found that the mic test worked but I got muted when i joined a server. sometimes it could take awhile - i would hear others talking and such, but then it would inevitably kick in at some point, and I would be muted, and also not be able to hear anyone else anymore. It turns out that the problem for me was that I my onboard sound just wasn't up to scratch - all the problems disappeared when I stuck a basic soundcard in there. Are you using onboard sound? If yes then I would suggest this is the likely cause of the problem.

hm, while reading your post I just realized that I use onboard sound (real good quality) and I have the same problem. (http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=8616) So you think BF2-VoIP needs more than onboard sound and I could fix the problem by using a simple cheap soundcard? (OMG, BF2 becomes more and more expensive somehow... )oberst_enzian wrote:

well, all the voip problems i had (i.e. no voip at all, despite a mic that works fine with other games and chat) disappeared as soon as i disabled onboard sound and chucked a soundcard in there, so yeah, i think bf2 likes more than onboard can give
is ther a way to turn off on board sound without the need to replace ur soundcard?
thanks
thanks
Check make sure your Mic is not Muted in control panel. Also have you looked at this? Make sure you set up VOIP in settings first ( root BF2 ) also have a look at this thread.IvysDad wrote:
