Mmm... The international community should recognise Somaliland. That's all I have to add...
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
I created a thread when this all kicked off stating that I thought the US were behind this latest folly. Maybe I should start a psychic hotline.Hurricane wrote:

Don't we have enough on our hands already?
This is why we get countries like Ethiopia to do stuff for us. Besides, a Sunni Sharia govt. in Somalia would be very conductive to Al-Qaeda and the like. Although the previous chaos wouldn't be much better, we're supplying the Ethiopians and Somalians to wipe out the militias.Hurricane wrote:

damned if we do, damned if we don't. meh
Sober enough to know what I'm doing, drunk enough to really enjoy doing it
Suspected terroists are there maybe planning the next attack on the allies, they are a bad country anyway.
I think we should just let them all kill each other. We should restrict our involvement to funding groups against the Islamists, because it's not a conflict worth having American soldiers die for.
Hmm remind you of anything, Laos and Cambodia during Vietnam perhaps?
The thing is that we're killing Islamists in Somalia. If they were in power, then some of their more radical factions would likely be supportive of terror groups.Turquoise wrote:

Seen it all starting off with the Ethiopian invasion which so obviously got the nod from he states and now the Ethiopian leader is singing the USA's praise for reigning indiscriminate death down from 10 000 feet. But if I had pointed out my fears I would have been given the "your anti American, we are the worlds candy dealers"CameronPoe wrote:

That's why aiding the Ethiopians is a better idea. They can directly fight the Islamists with equipment provided by us. We don't have to send in our infantry.UGADawgs wrote:

Although... I don't have a problem with the airstrikes we've been doing. That's a good way to attack without having to worry about our own people dying.
I'll put it this way. Dealing death to Somalia is kind of redundant. Considering how fucked up that country is, death is an act of mercy for some of them.JahManRed wrote:

At least the Union of Islamic Courts wasn't as indiscriminate in who it punished as the American bombers are.Turquoise wrote:

Well, you know terrorists aren't that picky about who they attack either, are they?... Those are the kind of people we aim to kill, although admittedly, we end up killing civilians as well.UON wrote:

I'd rather we at least try to get rid of terrorists one way or another than leave a radical Islamic government in place.
People make a big deal out of Iran, but Somalia is really the kind of country we have to be wary of.
The US probably figured nobody would notice a few more bullets and bombs going off in Somalia.
I am 15yrs old and I don't have any idea. but what is Bush trying to do again? I heard that he wants to join the "war". *i think.
Need more war movies for Tom Sizemore.
