Oh please, can we have some more of this so that our elected officials may recognize our Southern border as the national security disaster that it is.

I consider our border policy treason.

The elected officials responcible should be dealt with as traitors. How can we pretend to be in a war on terror with our border in such a sorry state.
There is no larger issue facing America than illegal immigration.
Our nation is being given away while Bush signs laws allowing the feds to read my mail?
Treason.

I could never understand how the US turns such a blatant blind eye to rampant illegal immigration.

I agree up to the treason part.  I agree that the border is a big problem.  Poorly handled and an achilles heel in our defense against unwanted people/imports.

It's part of the stratigery with the Mexican people smugglers, fight them over here so we don't need to fight them over there...

It seems illegal immigration was a major issue for about a month, and now its as if the government does not give a flying fuck about whats happening down there.

"The Border Patrol says the incident occurred somewhere along the 120 mile section of the border between Nogales and Lukeville. The area is known as a drug corridor. Last year, 124-thousand pounds of illegal drugs were confiscated in this area."

I kinda hate to say this but we should do as Mexico does with there southern border. I think that some of them would get the message real fast. As do all people trying to get in to Mexico from South America.
If you don't know Mexico shoots anyone trying to get across  there south border.

How else are most of you going to get your shit (drugs) if they clamp down on the border. And for all you tequila drinkers are you prepared to shell out two hundred bucks a bottle (for the cheap shit too).
You guys got your panties in a bunch if you feel that threatened by illigal Mexicans.

The Border patrol says the attackers quickly retreated back into Mexico.

I run a business in Southern California, and I can say with authority that you haven't the foggiest idea about what you speak.

Believe it or not most Americans see this and are at a loss for words at the amount of inaction we see on our borders.

And that's why capitalism will break down to either socialism or communism eventually. Because the people take care of the companies but the companies don't take care of the people unless they're stock holders. That's one of the major problems with Capitalism is that it's all about overhead, If you can stave a million people and make twice as much money off your product it's morally acceptable..

I'm American and know more than you could imagine.

And I'll say this with all respect: You fighting the wrong war. Don't worry about the short illegals who come to earn 6 bucks an hour. Worry about the whoring of American youth and the dumbing of Americans. Those two things will bring this country down quicker than any border hopper.

What kind of arms do the national guard carry, if they were "scared" off wtf did the assailants have?  It's been time to do something for a long time now, trouble is everyone is in fucking Iraq.  I am currently in Colorado and we just got hit with some wicked snow the last few weeks.  The national guard was called to help, and they have had a bitch of a time dealing with the snow because of the depleted forces.  The news said there is only 130 or so troops here.  I don't know if that is true, but I am pretty sure that is what the anchor said.  No wonder we can't deal with real crisis, cough... Katrina...cough, resources are thin.  Hats off to the national guard though, with a fraction of their force they are still trying hard.  Can't blame them for being over seas.

I would imagine that losing a cheap, non-union labour force would make a lot of businesses go under.  Reason enough to allow illegal immigration to continue?

Correct. What everyone should be worried about is that trained (kind of) soldiers RETREATED from their post, which happens to be our border. They put their on peronal safety in front of our national security which is horseshit. These men are not trained properly to defend a toll booth, let alone our nations border. So now I turn my attention towards their superiors. What will be done to correct this? What will their punishment be? Do we need to get the Marines, ya know, people who will actually fire back? In the rules of engagement it states that any member of the armed forces no matter the rank or billet, is authorized to use deadly force in the event that such deadly force is warranted to preserve national security. Failure to do so could be deemed as treason and is punishable under the Uniformed Code of Military Justice. If you all quickly think back to the Marine Barracks Bombing in Lebanon, that was added by Ronald Reagan due to the fact that at the time the Marine could not react fast enough. Before the rules of engagement were ammended you were allowed to have a magazine inserted into your weapon, however, no round could be chambered. I am not worried so much about the punishment of these boy scouts, although I am a proponent of seeing them disciplined, I am more worried about getting trained men to those posts without wasting anymore time.

I thought clamping down on the border was racist and all that jazz?

But seriously, sounds like a few mexicans shot at some fat old N.guard troops and they ran away.

M16-a2 service rifle. The ranking soldier (we call him a corporal/ sgt of the guard in the Marines) should have a Beretta 9mm side arm in addition to his or her service rifle. The BZO (sight adjustment)on the rifles should have been set at 200 yards to ensure the accuracy of an area target could be hit from such distance. It would been set at 200 yards because the M16 fires a .223 round which will balistically speaking, will not elevate until approx around 35-55 yards, making it accurate and effective for close quarters combat as well as ranges up to 200 yards. Thats what a Marine would do anyway.
