It won't be a hybrid embryo. The embryo is being kept in an animal cell casing to encourage the embyonic cells to revert to stem cells. There will be no contact or 'fusion' between the two.

Let me quote my favourite strategy game, Alpha Centauri:

Not that I agree with the suggestion that humans are tools, but I think the opposition to genetic technology are as the quote goes, reminded of their mortality. It may be uncomfortable to think of, but people, think of the future.
