So today I started up the BF2 game, everything was fine, and everything was running like it always does. I joined my "clans" server, just like always the map popped up showing me which spawns were available to pick. But after the map showed up my game kind of freezes. All the action in-game still happens for what seems lag free. Sound is normal, graphics appear normal. However my mouse cursor seems to refuse to work, and it doesn't make sense. The keyboard and mouse work perfectly fine outside the server, they work while in the game menu. The mouse only stops moving while in the "spawn/kit choosing menu".

Any ideas?

How much RAM do you have and what's your paging file size? Do you end noncrucial processes before you start your game? Are you malware/virus free?
Sober enough to know what I'm doing, drunk enough to really enjoy doing it

i've also experienced this too, so i know now im not alone. im not really sure what it is. maybe its still loading in graphics and textures and such. not sure. i would, like yourself like some info on this too.

check your controls sometimes the are wiped for no reason i can decern

Oooh, I had that a while ago. I ended up having to completely uninstall BF2 and delete my profile, then reinstall and patch again before retrieving it from the website.

If that doesen't do it, replace the mouse.

Do you mean like background apps. The only thing I consider major I have running is Avast virus scan and Team Speak.

Yes.

I should also add that the game doesn't freeze for only a few seconds if thats what some of you are thinking. I mean it freezes completely and pernamently. The mouse will not move, and I cannot press esc to open the menu to disconnect from the server. It seems that all in-game controls stop working. Only way to get out of it is to minimize the game and end task.

Like I said, complete reinstall and delete the profile.

Wouldn't deleting my profile reset my rank and all my unlocks. Or will I be able to just log in again by reentering my account name and password when I start the game up again.

You can just retrieve it from EA's site through the game.
