- 25% of Americans believe Jesus will come to earth in 2007
I don't doubt that at all. AOL FTL!Sgt.Gene wrote:

The fact that this is an AOL poll shows that they're not asking the most intelligent people, and is an inaccurate representation of the American populace. I'd be willing to bet that almost nobody in these forums thinks Jesus will make another coming this year or ever again. I recommend to people who live outside the US that are looking at this thread as an indication of American (for lack of a better word) blindness towards reality should consider the source. A dial-up company that refuses to allow people to cancel their subscriptions is an invalid source imho.
I remember those days, canceling AOL to go to Compuserve. They hadn't quite mastered the art of keeping people on the line, though.Sgt.Gene wrote:

God bless america lol
We get crazy polls like this all the time, usually in some amusing E-mail forwarded to you from a work colleague. For example, four million Americans actually believe they have been abducted by aliens! 4 MILLION! Reminds me of a joke by some forgotten comedian,:
"Why do aliens always visit some caravan (trailer in US) site in an American dessert whenever they come to Earth?"..with lost of sarcasm of course.

Well that's just stupid. Those are probably the Chreasters who don't even know what would transpire for that event to come about.
I'll be the odd one this time... 1,000 people is kind of a small sample group for a poll intended to represent a nation of 300 million people.
How many of you have honestly taken an online poll? if you have, im going to put you on the retarded side of my list.... anyone who actually does online polls are just retards who just discovered the internets
My teacher (complete retard) thought she won money in an online poker game thing, later she found out they were just trying to get into her bank account, she has a myspace, a 30 year old teacher with a myspace.... shes the kind of person that would take that poll.

The telephone poll of 1,000 adults was conducted Dec. 12-14 by Ipsos, an international polling firm. The margin of sampling error was plus or minus 3 percentage points.
Well judging by the methodology its going to have a few group of people not represented most notably those WITHOUT phones at home, so in it of itself its going to produce some bias. Not only that, but you also have another strong bias called self selection due to the people actually wanting to spend time on the phone answering these questions well those aren't your typical kind of responders .
This is not to say that a properly done poll with as few of 2,000 people can represent the population of millions to a certain degree. If you take some statistic courses you'll come to find out that increasing the number of people poll will eventually stop decreasing the amount of statistical error pretty much its pointless to introduce more after that.

It's because the idiots think this is the worst the world can be and we're due because "it's so horrible right now" Free Bibles for the people who were polled? Even got extra for some people here (you know who you are)SysTray wrote:
I personally think it's amazing that everyone is so optimistic after the not-so-bright year of 2006.
2006 started pretty shitty for me but turned out to be a great year.

Even if 25% may be found to be false, there still remains a smaller minority of people who do indeed believe that. However, I still was fairly shocked by the thread title.
Ok, why America?
Replace "anticipate" with the word "hope".
Anyone else think that this world is so f***ed up that just starting over is better?

What kind of person doesn't have a telephone at home? IMO it's the kind of person who's not worth losing sleep over.Fen321 wrote:

I missed the class on the religion where zombies died for our sins. [sarcasm]Drakef wrote:
