Tbh I say let ethiopa fucking kick their asses even more than they have already done. Then the stupid MCS will be gone and the real government supported by the UN can take control of the country back.

"Some warlords-turned-ministers said Somalia did not need outsiders."

Gee maybe this is why the government of Somalia only has control over one town.

Yeah, you guys tried to help them once before and look how they treated things. I don't blame you for your thinking there. Let the locals handle it. If an African force can go in on behalf of the UN, they may be received a little better, but I doubt it. After years of civil war, a lot of people have too much to lose with an outbreak of peace.

I knew you'd come over to my side eventually.

But seriously, I think saying fuck Somalia, Uganda, Rwanda, and Sudan isn't such a bad idea.  I realize we have to maintain a certain amount of involvement in the world, but it doesn't have to be militaristic.  We should just do the humanitarian aid thing for some countries (not Somalia), but only enter war as a last resort.

Yay, isolationism! Let's wither from the world scene and turn ourselves into an economic afterthought.

I always have felt this way. The difference between me and you is, I say, if the world wants us to mind our own business, then they should get EVERY BIT of what they ask for. They should deal with their own problems and expect NO help from us. The US is not a genie in a bottle that the world can beckon when it sees fit.

If we hadn't outsourced our workforce and not allowed certain organizations (oil) destroy alternate power projects we could live with little to some outside help/influence.  It would be bad politically and basically becomes I'm going home and taking my ball with me, but when you have the best ball on the court overall, their not going to want you to go home.  Right now it would really hurt us to start this though due to China's rapidly growing economy and global power.

In other words; we could it and live, but we would pay dearly in 100 years maybe.

Just as soon as the world starts leeching off of China, ( as if they would allow it) China will feel the same way.

they need help, but Europeans and yanks 'aint gonna be able to provide it, they have to remove the hatred they have for their neighbouring countries themselves, to use an example

America had to remove it's own racism in the...er... 1950's...(yeah i'll go for the 50's good as any other decade) if Canada had invaded America because they thought they could remove racism for them do you think it would have worked? of course it wouldn't, America had to work the Racism out on it's own and its a similar thing in Africa. (purely examplative about America and Canada, if you don't get it then don't reply)

There is a big difference between military isolationism and economic isolationism.  It's good that we are active in the global economic scene.  I'm advocating less warfare, not less trade.

I am also not advocating less TRADE, but am advocating for less AID.

Well, I agree with that idea until it really is in our best interests to help people.  I didn't see this second Iraq war as being beneficial to our interests in any way.

I felt the same way about Somalia in the early 90s.  That was one of the biggest failures of Clinton.

Ideally, foreign aid should be a private endeavor.  If we stopped funding it through the government, individuals would have more money to spend on it as they please through charities.

these people have lived for decades surrounded by war.
battle hardened lessons that have been handed down from generations long gone.
look to the past for indicators of the future.
these people sleep with their fucking kalishnikovs, if some ragtag UN peacekeeping force strolls in there.......well lets just say that the good old days when the pakistanis ate it will be a real nice after thought.
