I have some questions for you, for my research paper. All of you veterans would be a great primary source.

A couple of questions:

a) What was your opinion on the war before you were deployed?

b) What was your opinion on the war after you left Iraq?

(optional)
c) What is your opinion on the actions taken by the Bush administration to convince Americans that the invasion of Iraq was right. (ie: saying there were WMDs and that Hussien was a direct threat to America).

If you do not feel like typing too much you may answer like this:

a) pro war / con war

b) pro war/ con war

c) pro actions/ con actions

a)  About time

b) Why do so many Iraqi people not give a shit enough to help themselves

c) I never listen to politicians.  I really do not care what they say.

This is probably the LAST place I would ask for information on a research paper of this nature.

But he shouldn't be using information from here at all.  Anyone could claim to be a vet.  I could create a new account for the sole purpose of filling out this survey and claim to be a vet.

1. I was excited to finally kick some ass and fight for my country

2 Same as before I left.

3. I dont agree with everything GWB has said and done but I do believe that his decision to remove Saddam Hussein from power was the right one. I however am starting to get sick and tired of the occupation portion and certainly believe that if the Iraqi people dont start showing some progression towards a working government that can take care of themselves we just need to pull the fuck outta that shithole and let them sort it out by themselves.

There seems to be quite a bit of Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom vets here, but some could be pretending I suppose. I dunno why anybody would wanna do that though.

unfortunatly here in st louis there was a case of that a couple months ago.
some jackass was going to all these marine corps meetings and events decked out in all sorts of medals and a fat salad bar.
some colonel got suspicious and called the FEDs....it is a federal offense......so they showed this dirtbag on the news and he didnt have shit to say for himself, of course.
he just hung his head low and wouldnt even look at the reporter.
but that kind of stuff happens....its just about the lowest form of filth that would actually do it.

Hmmm....that kinda surprises me a bit. I mean with all the anti-military sentiment and all going around. I guess he thought it would be cool to be a "Marine".

And if you're doing a research paper you should be getting proof.

Anti-military? Are any of you other vets experiencing this? There're a lot of people who oppose the war, but the military is still viewed with respect as heroes.

Whilst I'm (admittedly and obviously) not from the US, I imagine it would vary a lot from place to place.  Towns with a rich military tradition would be very pro-military, others might not be so much.

Yes I went to a friends funeral a couple years ago that was killed in Afghanistan and there were alot of anti-war demonstrators that had signs saying "All soldiers are going to hell" and "Thank god for dead soldiers". That kinda fucking anti-war sentiment. It took everything I had not to kick their asses'. I'm sure not a majority of the US feels this way but I have spoken to some college and high school classes and i'm getting the vibe that they are viewing the US soldiers as the evil ones. They pretty much all told me that they dont understand why people wanna join the military and we all chose to serve so therefore we arent being forced to kill anybody against our own will. I even had a few come up to me and started calling me a "baby killer" and a "murderer".

Yes, this is very true. Especially in the Southern states where there is alot of pro-military sentiment. Although I have came across some extreme religous fanatics that call the troops murderers.

Im not even in the military but that kind of stuff is not called for at someones funeral. I would have got in my car and driven them over or driven them away.

Yea we had police and a S.W.A.T team there because the group that was protesting had to get a permit for the demonstration and asked for the police to protect them as they mocked and disgraced my friend. Trust me man everybody attending the funeral wanted to run them over. My First Sergeant told us that they would be there and ignore them but it was kinda hard when theyre using megaphones chanting "death to all soldiers" and such.
