My game has been getting annoyingly laggy whenever I jump in a chopper or jet and fly around. It's so bad that it's almost impossible to play the game. I was thinking that heating may be an issue? Would the game lag up if my video card or other hardware component was getting hot? I don't ever get artifacts or system/game crashes, just lag. It's not a network issue because it doesn't happen when I am on foot or in land-based vehicles (and also my roommate plays on the same connection with no lag issues).

I used to be able to play everything on high, but I lowered all settings to medium and still i have issues, though not as severe.

I am open to advice. Here are my relevant specs:

- os: WinXP Pro SP2 (running processes are kept at a minimum, and I don't have virii/spyware)
- processor: AMD 64-bit running @ 2GHz
- memory: 4GB Corsair RAM running in dual channel
- video card: nVidia GeForce 7800GT
- hdd: Seagate SATA 3GB/s 320GB (yes, I've defragged many a time)

With those specs, I don't see any reason why I can't play on high.

Thx!

i think it may be your video card, i have the same issue, lower your settings to low, and it should take away some of the lag. or also restart your computer often
the 6800 gt isnt the best video card for bf2

turn lighting down to medium if it already isn't, then put ur dynamic lighting/shadows to medium. No matter the setup, those 3 things cause the majority of fps lag.

This has been going on since I had my old hard drive, which was an 80GB IDE Seagate.

Nope, I'm wired. And my roommate is on the same connection and he experiences no lag issues.

Thanks, I'll check and see, but I am almost certain everything is on medium w/ 4x AA.

Turn on your PC..let it be idle..hit CTRL + ALT + DEL and go to processes, if everything is normal than your CPU usage should be between 0 -2 % (max 4%) any above that indicates a bottleneck in your system and so you need to check everything that isn't started by either System of Netwerk Service..
