".....most women we interviewed was the spousal consent requirement.  “You have to have permission from your husband”

http://www.hrw.org/reports/2005/argentina0605/5.htm

"The requirement of spousal authorization for access to tubal ligation contravenes Argentina’s obligations under CEDAW127 and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights,128 both of which were incorporated into the Argentine constitution in 1994.129  The CEDAW Committee has spelled out that “[d]ecisions to have children or not, while preferably made in consultation with spouse or partner, must not nevertheless be limited by spouse, parent, partner or Government.”130  "

Seems kind of messed up to me.  Try doing this to American women.

This is pretty bad, but it is only one of many human rights violations reported in Argentina.

I think its pretty bad that you cant without your partners consent thats a pretty fundamental human right, even though I'm sure the idea behind it is that a women can't go behind you back and get one but there shouldn't be a law for it. It would be interesting to know if there is a reverse law about men i betting not ?

I couldn't find if they had that law for men.......but I highly doubt it.  Would seem fair though.

Isn't it easy finding faults in other countries? The US never imposes it's will over the people, we have elections and control over our government, we don't torture or kill people from other countries and tell ourselves that the innocent over there deserved to die because of the innocent that have died here, do we? Remind anyone of the Gulf of Tonkin incident, lies? USS Liberty? Operation Northwoods?

Some of the most misinformed people are Americans, research for truth don't be spoon fed by CNN, and before the insults are thrown about my patriotism, I'm a 20 year veteran from the US military, God Bless America, shame on the evil we do though to other countries and people.

Hey USMARINE, proxy your web searches through an open proxy in an unbiased country and open your mind, pretend that what you see is what you're supposed to see, reality or the wool, you're choice. PERSPECTIVE is a powerful thing.

Not sure what you are getting at, this is not from CNN.

CNN was my analogy for a government fed news agency, but I stand corrected, the hrw.org seems to be a valuable source of information which at least reports human rights issues even by America, who would have thought with servers in Florida.

I stand corrected regarding your source, my apologies usmarine.

Argentina is Catholic, right?...  Most Catholic nations have some...  "hang-ups" regarding contraception.

Unfortunately, so do the religious right in America.
