I have just finished watching the documentary "The Nuclear Walmart" .

Abdul Qadeer Khan a Pakistani has been responsible for selling this technology to a handful of third world nations. Khan admitted in 2004 that he operated a worldwide clandestine network to sell nuclear technology in the black market. He is now under house arrest and is protected by the government of Pakistan from questioning.

Sadly I'm not surprised at all by this. I had always thought that nukes out of Russia would be the biggest threat though considering the collapse of their military infrastructure after the Soviet Union fell. I don't know if there's anyone who could support this, but I had heard that Russia doesn't even know where all of it's nukes are anymore. Like I said I don't know if it's true but it is kind of scary just to think about.

Sounds like a recipe for destruction because the people buying them are crazy enough to use them.

Basicaly this guy Khan confessed and was pardoned. It's a simple as that. Seems like crap to me that he is simply given house arrest.

In early February 2004, the Government of Pakistan reported that Khan had signed a confession indicating that he had provided Iran, Libya, and North Korea with designs and technology to aid in nuclear weapons programs, and claimed that the government had not been complicit in the proliferation activities.

I have never understood why we didn't invade Pakistan.

they abandoned several thousand soldiers in Afganistan when one of our generals told them we would nuke them if they didn't play nice.

I've heard the same.

"Now where'd that darned nuke go? It was here yesterday. Oh, there's Yuri and his band of merry thugs running off with it to sell it on the black market. Oh well, we still 100 more in this silo." Would be nice if Russia kept track of its stuff. Maybe they're selling it and not just "losing" it.
