SFII all the way. I still play Street Fighter games they're great. Nothing more satisfying than a double perfect.

Not that all the Mario games weren't great, Super Mario World was amazing as were 1, 2 and 3 and Yoshis Island - the others, meh (except the original Mario Kart).

I still think Super Street Fighter is the best fighting game of all time. There are ones with better graphics and more complex gaming mechanisms, but it's got to be SFII all the way. Fatal Fury Real Bout 2 takes a close second and Samurai Shodown 2 is hot on it's heels (I used to love my Neo Geo).

Maybe with some fancy online emulators we could sort out some sort of online D&ST fighting game challenge?

For FPS you've got to give the credit to id. Wolfenstein and Doom kick-started the genre.

The first game to really suck me in was Elite on the Amiga. the monotonous trading to build up cash was dull, but every docking was tricky until you got a docking computer, and the combat was good.

On PC, my first love was Interstate 76...great story and gameplay. Then the Close Combat series kept me going for years, and I still drag it out every now and then.

Didn't play FPS's til BF42, and I may be the only gamer in the world who never played Doom or Quake.

Elite on the Sinclair Spectrum 48K was great. The world seemed endless, compared to the other games on the platform.

I had Elite on my BBC Micro Model B. That was great.

Modern day coders really suck ass, how hard can it be to code a game to run well on the computers that people use today, that have endless resources? With 48-64kb ram that was a real challenge, and the OS was supposed to run on that aswell...good old days....BBS...baud speed modems, BASIC, Tac-2´s (oh man they sure could take a beating)....Doubblecassettedecks for copying, snailmail for sharing...ah....memorylane here i come.

And for FPS games...don´t forget Duke Nuke´m

Elite on amiga was such a good game...felt soo huge, for you that didn´t know there´s a similar today that are quite good aswell, EVE online, try it.

No, because they both suck.

Important? Mario (under 25). Mario got me where I am now, and where I am now is great

Battlefield 2 is better though, just not as important.
