I recently bought a 19" Flatscreen LCD HP vs19e monitor for my PC. When I try to run Battlefield 2, It flashes black, and I get a message saying Auto Adjustment in Progress Recommended Settings (1280x1040 - 60 hz) and then it will just take me back to the desktop without anything happening. I have my resolution set at 1280x1040 and my hz at 60. Thus making it work. So I am asking you, why doesn't it?
Mine says The Auto adjusting message then flicks back in-game.
Mabye it's a problem with BF2 not handling the Size
Try a different resoloution and a bigger Hz?
Just a thought.

I've tried setting it back to my old resolution which was 1024x768 with 60 hz. Maybe I'll try a bigger Hz
Okay, so I've tried 70 hz, 72, and now im at 75hz, and still nothing. Any other ideas?
Make sure BF2 is running at the same res and HZ as your desktop.
How can I change that when I can't even open battlefield up?
lower the res?Vantage wrote:

Delete your Profile file, usually in my documents>BF2 *WARNING: this will delete your settings, such as custom key bindings and current video settings.*
Option 2 )
if you remember what HZ and res you set BF2 at, then just change your desktop to that for the time being.
To change res and hz; Rightclick wallpaper>Properties>settings>(Change res here)>Advanced>then click on the monitor tab.

Try adding the "+szx#### +szy####" switches to the target line of your BF2 shortcut.
EX. "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142Launcher.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx1680 +szy1050
The numbers should correspond to the native resolution of your monitor which you can find in your monitor documentation.

Tried it, doesn't work. It stays black as if it were loading, but nah it takes me right back to my desktop.Deader wrote:

If you have ATI or Nvidia card, try to update your video drivers, i had similar problem on my Wide-screen, official nvidia drivers didn't worked for me so i took www.guru3d.com drivers. By the way, try to launch 2142 if you have it or another game. Else you can still try to reinstall bf2 if others games run fine.
I've got a nVidia GeForce 7300, somebody find me an updated driver, i'm sick off looking up shit on the internet haha
drag the Battlefield 2 folder found in My Documents to your desktopVantage wrote:

I had this exact same problem. What worked for me was I downloaded the 1.41 patch again, the whole patch and it worked.
