There are three carrier groups in the Persian gulf. Iran controls the mountainous coast with two seperate lines of fire at the same point in the only channel leading out of the gulf. If Iran fortifies that position those carrier groups are sunk or stranded. Might is nothing in the face of a tactical advantage.Commie Killer wrote:
There is an EXTREMLY small chance that they would sink even one of our ships above the destroyer level, a carrier being sunk is out of the question.jonsimon wrote:
Its a possibility. Our military is stretched thin, occupying a hundred different countries at once. And their military is strong and home-grown. Plus three of our carrier groups are sitting ducks in the Arabian sea for no reason. It's certainly a possibility we could lose a war with Iran under our current conditions. Now, say, if we weren't occupying a large part of the world and were able to fight them in a sort of 1 v 1, they'd surrender or we'd crush them.Commie Killer wrote:
Smoking something? Im pretty sure that the US will not lose a war against Iran....
Edit: Yeah, I totally called the Persian gulf the Arabian sea, oops.
