My recommendation was buried in another thread but I got some good feedback and wanted to share it with everyone. I have a feeling that the Battlefield crowd would love this show.

Anyone interested to learn what you should do to survive in all sorts of wilderness environments should check out Man Vs Wild every Friday at 9pm EST. My new favorite show.

In each episode, this former British special forces guy (who also hiked up Everest and across the South Pole) parachutes into the middle of the Sierra Nevada, the French Alps, the Amazonian rain forest, etc with nothing but a knife, a flint, a water flask, and the clothes on his back, and a couple cameramen follows him for days (without assisting in any way) until he finds civilization.

Highlights from his venture on the African savanna: he couldn't find water so had to squeeze the "juice" from an elephant dropping directly into his mouth. later, he found a zebra that had been torn apart by lions, and proceeded to cut himself a massive hunk of flesh and ate it raw. Zebra sashimi.

Here's a tip: when you make a headdress out of your t-shirt to survive in the desert, be sure to piss on it.

Link to more video clips here. And for anyone who doesn't subscribe to Discovery, I bet you can find a way to watch it if you do a bit of hunting.

There was a thread about this before, but meh......I think Survivorman is better. But I did like the part where the dude drank out of the poop. Eating the rotting Zebra with flies all over it was pretty sweet too.

I've been linked there once, and I'm not touching it with a ten foot pole. At least Jackass is remotely watchable.

Man Vs wild is all faked, he cheats (in episode 5 there are several suspicious happenstanses like a perfectly clean and freshly painted boat in an abandoned lodging camp from a hundred years ago, and he has a fire-starting material he brings with him), and its just bullcrap.  He does stuff no one in a survival situation should do, unless they have a camera crew with satellite phones and regular checkpoints.  There are several circumstances in which the camera men are suspicious, such as the time when he was swimming across a lake and a camera is taping him while riding in a canoe.  Where's the canoe come from?  They brought it alone?  Or did they get it at their latest checkpoint?

Survivorman is a far superior and better survival show.  Survivorman, Dirty Jobs, and Mythbusters are currently the rulers of Discovery, Man vs Wild is a pathetic immitation of survivorman

I've never seen survivorman. Is that on Discovery? This guy was also on a show on the Military Channel about new recruits in the Foreign Legion. It was funny because they had a drag queen on there and he was pretty tough. He almost made through boot camp but had to leave due to a hernia.
