Blame the Thai Government.

Have you tried contacting the Communications Authority of Thailand?  I hear for the right price you can get anything in Thailand...  Or you could get satellite internets, no?

There are two basic ISP's here, neither support satellite internet. One of these two owns the most popular cable TV network and satellite TV (yes ironic) and also more than half the phone lines and also helped to oust Thaksin from office. The other is small. And you can't choose between them, it's predetermined by what wire comes out of your house. You can't have one company's internet on the other company's phone line and vice versa, meaning that 80% of the country has the same ISP.

Oh and believe me people have tried 'contacting' the Communications Authority of Thailand. Phone calls, e-mails, demonstrations, protests, suicides, but ImageShack is still considered 'vulgar/obscene/inappropriate to national security' or some bullshit like that.
