Bang!!!!Bang!!!!
This things is amazing..but kinda scary...aint it too much firepower?...I mean...its "Overkill"
is it real ?
An amazing improvement in technology, but if this starts getting deployed, the arms race will become turbo charged to try and catch up with that thing.

Popular Science magazine ran an article in 2004 that speculated on the use of Metal Storm technology for fire departments. According to the article, the rapid diffusion of shells loaded with flame-retardent foam could help put out fires, or at least slow their spread. Pyrogen is the chemical that could be used in conjunction with Metal Storm. This application shows considerable promise. A captain from the Los Angeles County Fire Department is quoted as saying that Metal Storm weapons could be "...a valuable adjunct to existing firefighting methods"

Yes it is real. There are larger versions of it being used in Iraq, according to the show that that came from. It is made by a company called Metal Storm.SlightlySto0pid wrote:

It takes one round to kill a man.
There's missiles out there that can take out a target as small as a jeep from kilometers away easy.
Why seek to make a "machine" that fires >1 million rounds a second?
It just seems so pointless in my eyes.

That thing has no chance of getting into civilian hands, at least not here in the states.cyborg_ninja-117 wrote:

Maybe a pistol version. It would make for a good missile defense gun for the military.

Yes, there are missles like that but we still use ground troops. The Metal Storm would make ground forces much much more effective. However, I don't think deploying that widely now would be a good idea. No one has weapons good enough to combat it, so the arms race would take off with a bang.Heavy_Guns_91 wrote:

Edit: Plus the post above. They can fill the sky with lead, making a pretty effective anti missle system.
