Define "politically active". You mean whether we vote or not? What?

Definition would be "active whitin an political party", as in helping the party getting votes, distribute papers, running for political posts, putting up ads,and soo on...but then again that might just be my definition not yours.  I really hope all of you DO vote.

I consider myself about 80% as politically active as I sound here on the boards.  Given the relative ease of being politically active in the US (simply voting, debating, informing people, etc), my 80% is likewise easy.  I reserve that 20% for actively participating in rallies/protests/other gatherings do further voice my political aspirations.  And of course, i vote..and i do so very seriously having read and debated personally with the pros and cons of ballot measures, candidates, etc.  Further, I proudly vote for individuals as opposed to the assclowns out there that vote along party lines.  I believe people who vote along party lines do not understand democracy and are likewise foolish sheep who need to educated thus.

I vote and donate money to the political organizations I support.  With 2 kids and my wife working evenings, I don’t have the time to volunteer after work.  And of course I argue with you lovable fools on here about politics.

At school, though it's forbidden.
Lol, no seriously - I'm just criticizing everwhere I can, I'm a real whiner, if you want to call me one. I also might only be against war, but that's just too common nowadays.

However, one day I might want to become politically active.

I have worked with various political candidates over the last few years, and I intend to run for office in the future, for whatever post I deem necessary. I will always vote, and will always have an opinion. I am also a member of the Liberal Party of Canada.

Back in high school, I co-founded the school's student government, and produced the Student Vote program twice at my school. Student Vote is a mock election for students to encourage political activity, as well as collect information. I hope the students will continue this program for the upcoming federal election.

Well..

I'm a (semi)active member of the Social Democrat party in Finland and the secretary of our local association. I'm currently acting as vice-chairman in a vocational education committee subsection, and vice member the citys educational council.

So, yeah.. I walk the walk.

P.S: I did the graphic layout for two candidates campaigns last election for parliament (almost 4 years ago). One is now an MP.

I attend protests about certain things I feel strongly about, I actively work with the local "Food Not Bombs" chapter, I organized a South-County chapter for NORML here, which is yet to garner official recognition (I have to find someone at a local college to implement it there).  I attend speeches made by people with the same political leanings as myself as well (Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Michael Parenti, Jello Biafra, etc).

In addition, I have friends that are active in both the OC Young Republicans (fund raising) and OC Young Democrats (State Senator Joe Dunn's campaign manager).

Oh yeah, I vote too.

In Greek there's a special term for those who are involved in politics solely through the party they support. Most of the times, depending on the audience, it has a negative meaning, in the sense that whoever does what you describe above is not really politically active (in other words they are too biased) and thus not ready to take the right decision in commonwealth affairs.

Personally I don't vote because I'm not a citizen of the country I live in. Not that I would if I could. Nevertheless, I consider my abstention to be in itself a political act, in accordance with my political beliefs.

I vote and rant at my friends that they must vote. Although in Northern Ireland our elected Representatives have no power and the people who make the decisions are on a different Island, voted in by different people...............don't know why I bother really.
