READREADREAD
Disclaimer: I realize that many (read: all) of these changes are quite improbable this late in the game. While these probably aren't all I can think of, they're all I'm willing to type up at this time. Not proof-read. Additionally, a bit of following should be taken as ideas, not grumblings, and I'm not exactly in love with everything written here, either. Prerequisite smiley:

For awhile, I've thought that awards based on amassed global points and time alone are mighty silly. Therefore, for my own amusement, I have rearranged some of the requirements into something that I thought made a bit more sense, and added a few new features altogether into what, at least to me, would be a somewhat of a dream-patch:

{Primary Changes}

Classic Ports, Expansion and Booster Packs

  • As a gesture of good faith to we the customers, two maps plus era vehicles from BF1942 and two maps plus era vehicles from BFV will be released as an official mod for BF2 some time in 2007, in the spirit of BFV's official WW2 mod. As an official mod, it will be ranked. Kits will remain unchanged, but for types of weapons and equipment, and proper awards will be in place.
  • Special Forces will receive a free map.
  • To boost server population, EF and AF will be released as a free download by next Easter. EF and AF booster pack servers will be viewable within 'vanilla' BF2's server browser, upon application of proper filters. EF and AF systems merged into BF2 proper.
Random ModificationBinoculars are a triple-purpose item granted to commanders and squad leaders:
  • Binoculars act as a useful set of peepers for a class without a scoped weapon.
  • Enemy units spotted with a pair of binoculars remain painted on the map for ten more seconds than normal.
  • Left click functionality (right click puts them away): A commander is able to use them to request an air strike on the selected target, but is limited to his own field of vision. A squad leader can use them to forward a request for an air strike to the commander. The commander may accept or deny the request as with any other type of request. An air strike icon is visible to all members of the team, appearing similar to an artillery icon, for the purpose of warning ground pounders to get out of range and 'asking' friendly aircraft to respond at their leisure. The icon will expire in thirty seconds. Team kills within the icon's lifespan and radius cannot be punished, though the commander may be mutinied for a disastrous strike.
Patriot Honors System places a player's national flag next to his or her name if they are the best in their country at any stat. The flag is visible in the score lists before and after the game. A globe icon replaces the flag icon if they are the best in the world at any stat. Minimal losses, deaths, lone wolf time, etc. do not count.MVP (most-valued player) System resurrected from old BF, in the classic form of taking players who took first, second and third place in the previous game, and in that order, putting a gold, silver or bronze star next to their names on the score sheet, for the duration of the match.Covering Fire Tweak only counts 5% missing LMG shots against weapon and overall accuracy encouraging support players to use their weapon as it should be used.Quicker Repair Points Tweak gives a Repair point per 90% of a vehicle's total (undamaged) health repaired. 'Firefighting' (rescuing a occupied friendly vehicle from certain death) will grant a Repair point, but limited to once every five minutes. Every five enemy land mines or every two enemy claymores removed will grant a Repair point. Modifications made in the face of simple-to-acquire Resupply and First Aid points.Blackhawk Revivification Tweak restores a small fraction of the Blackhawk's classic splash damage, in light of the MEC helicopter's remaining overkill of a gunner's seat.Note: Repairs made to other vehicles by an engineer in armor are not subject to this part of the tweak. The Commander Medal Tweak bars commanders from being awarded gold stars. Long live the fighters!Jet Aircraft Versatility Tweak grants equal speed and agility to fighter-craft of identical (to BF2 standards) class, eliminating the J-10 complaint...except on maps without a US airfield.

Rank Modification OverviewRanks have been modified to accelerate advancement in most areas, though advanced ranks are still difficult to acquire.Enlisted Personnel at master Sergeant/First Sergeant and above spawn with two extra magazines for firearms, and fifteen extra shells/bullets for firearms that do not use magazines. Early on in an enlisted career, rank may be advanced through skill rather than global points.Note: Certain Enlisted ranks grant similar (but unimpressive) victory bonuses as officers.Warrant Officers receive bonuses to capture assist radius, allowing them to act as cover and spawn points further away from the flag than its capture radius, while still receiving credit if it is captured by teammates. Warrant Officer capture radius itself is unaffected, so they would have to move in themselves, if not supported. For every two minutes spent moving friendlies around in a landing craft, 'jeep,' or transport chopper, one team point is earned. For every three minutes spent transporting friendlies around in an APC, one team point is earned. Additionally, both of these benefits combined can make it more beneficial for a driver to gain points doing what he's supposed to be doing: being the wheelmanning; moving troops from Point A to Point B without getting everyone blown up, or losing the ride out. Advanced Warrant Officer ranks also grant a bonus to special ability recharge rates.Note: a Warrant Officer standing outside actual capture range will get an assist credit, if they are within their extended capture assist range. However, a Warrant Officer will not accelerate flag neutralization and capture unless he is within proper capture range.Commissioned Officers as commanders receive a team score bonus upon victory, increasing with rank to impressive heights (up to +20). An officer commander who was victorious in the match preceding the current one is not subject to mutiny unless idle for more than five minutes.Rank ExchangeCurrent players will strip their current rank, to select a path that best suits their play-style: 'Enlisted personnel,' 'Warrant Officer' or 'Commissioned Officer,' preventing new accounts from having to be created from scratch. Current score and awards will determine their new rank, depending upon path selected. For example, a disgruntled 2nd Lieutenant who wants to be a Sergeant Major again may do so, and he will keep the enlisted rank for the duration of his account lifespan.Rank Modification Detailshttps://static.bf2s.com/game-images/ranks/header/rank_1.pngPrivate First Class

Omfg, u have time to waste, I guess! Most of this is very stupid! Esp. the changes in the ranks and "rank bonuses"...
I only agree with EA making more free maps for us, Like Jalalabad...

No. Just ninja fingers.

I figure being allowed to go officer before you hit the top enlisted rank just makes more sense, though is probably one of the most unlikely modifications that would ever take place for the game. Nobody reads disclaimers before posting.

Yeah, and who wouldn't want more maps?

Wow, seriously great ideas, though we could do better if we just had a better engine. Long view distance, huge maps, lots of players=win.

Wow, this thread died quickly.  I really like the ideas, though.  You sure put a lot of thought into these!

Primary: GJ. I reckon this is what needs to be done. Yes, yes and more yes.
A couple inklings:
1. Commanders should have an additional command (like Attack, Defend, Repairs, etc) for Air Strike that they could give out (and thus making those jets help us ground-pounders for once!)

Ranks and Badger-Badger-Badger Badges: I don't think you should fuck around with them anymore, people are already having headaches with the changes. Leave them be.

But I'm all for Primary.
My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.

I still like BF2, though.

The only thing I don't like is the consecutive kills dealie. Sometimes before getting a badge I barely scrape by to get it before the round ends.

in a place where none of this matters (forums) this post truly is a waste of time.

Im not sure why so many here are negative on your suggestions.  I think most of them are good common sense changes.  Although I think EA has made it apparent that they have made their money on this game and are moving on.  I hold out a tiny hope that they will recognize the huge popularity of this game (second only to counter stike, in fps) and will continue to keep the community alive with new maps and even a few new weapons.
