Question for other uk BF2 players

For the last 2 days when ever i view the list of servers the pings are way higher than usual even the UK servers. I've found it impossible to join a server with a ping lower than 150 when usually it's around 40-50 depending on the server. Done the usual spyware checks etc..Anyone else found this?

This is kinda what the server pings look like in the list only a hell of a lot more of them course. Can't be bothered taking a pic

open up command prompt (start, run, cmd).

type "ping -t www.awebsiteadresss.com"

see what types of ping you are getting, and if the connection is timing out.

to stop, press ctrl + c

My connections Supposed to be 8meg bit it i only ever had it that fast for the first week. Heres the result i got.
433 kb/s 254 kb/s 190 ms Derby ~ 50 mi

yep ive had high ping for the last few days, it ussauly bout 23 but now it 150 for every server and not just BF2 it all games, its tiscali again, last time all tiscali users couldnt log into BF2 for a few days and now some tiscali user are gettin high ping

Out of interest, those using tiscali. You didn't happen to sign up for a free evening and weekends phone package within the last few weeks did you? I did and I'm wondering if that's had some kind of effect.

that's pretty poor, for 8 meg and a server thats 50 miles away. What's your provider?

Tiscali. Actually just calculated the distance to derby and it's 138.2 miles from where i live. So I guess the speed test calculates how close my isp server is and not my computer?

Tiscali here,been getting high ping last few days as well.read they were having probs with the carlisle exchange,but i can't see that affecting me in cheshire.i've not signed up for anything extra so it's not that.

Just found the server status page, they say the carlise problems was fixed and that everything is running 100%.

I've got a 2 meg connection, and regularly get around 30-50 ping on servers. However, since I sort the servers by ping rate (to avoid the dreaded 'there is a problem with your connection!' message), most of the low-ping servers seem to be in Germany.

yea,mine seems o.k now.talked to one of my clan-mates about it and he said it may have had something to do with capacity i.e lots of ppl on at the same time.
