Hi yall=]
I gave my friend the cdkey to my current bf2 installation, and recently received my replacement copy. I would like to know if it's possible to avoid reinstallation by a change cdkey function, so both him and I can play without problems. If not, how do i save my big list of favorite servers to use with a fresh copy of bf2 installed on my computer? I favorited a lot of servers, and wouldn't like to go through the hassle of finding all the good servers out there again.

Any help is greatly appreciated, THANK YOU!:p

2 ways of doing it try option 2 bifore u do option 1

1. - Start -> Run -> regedit
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ergc
- Edit the (default) value you see there, type your new CD key in, without dashes.
- Run the full Latest patch again.

See if that works if not

you can try step 2

2. Go to here

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\ Support \ Battlefield 2_code CD Key

and enter new code there

and your favourite servers are kept in a file called general.con which is kept in a numbered folder containing your profile for your main account, this is in My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\000?

unfortunately since some early patch, the CD Key has been encrypted, so making step 1 impossible to do.

If 2 doesnt work, I think the only option is to manually reinstall the game..

Step one is not impossible...............i have used this method to correct the 'your cd key is invalid' error
For some reason the key gets hosed and there will be a bunch of garbage instead of the key
retype the key in there and.....................wallah!
Dont know if it will work to just simply change it to a different key and expect it to work.
Good luck though..

Hey guys, I discovered something.
When you uninstall bf2, it asks you if you wanna save your profile info, which contains your key config, your fav. servers, etc.

L33t hehe;)

Later, Happy Holidays!
