Wow you're bright. What's the point in bringing more grief to a family by barging in a room and randomly claiming their son was an idiot for killing himself? I wouldn't do that (only in certain circumstances ) but the kid is still an idiot because he killed himself... Just because I don't say it doesn't mean its not true.Drunken_Tankdriver wrote:
You know what guys i bet none of you mother fuckers would be saying any of this shit if you were in the same room with that kids family and friends.
Just thaught i would point that out.

Two options:
1) Treatable mental illness, signs ignored, tragedy.
2) Highly intelligent individual bored by the childish curriculum of pure bullshit taught at school (I know what that's like) put under excessive pressure to achieve. Forced to choose from scenario A through D from the list below.
Scenario A) Have no social life, study for years, arsekiss like mad, get a multimillion dollar income, but know that you sold your soul. Very few truly intelligent people will choose this option. It shouldn't even be on the list of options, really.

That graph would almost certainly be a bell curve, even with the x scale carrying on in a similar fashion. The super rich are probably averaging about a 80 or 90. Just look at Bush . But of course, no one will ever get him to do an IQ test, and if they did it wouldn't be published, so I guess we'll have to assume what the rest of the graph looks like.
Scenario B) Don't even bother trying to get any decent grades, get booted out of home at 16, join the army, get bullied for having abnormal intelligence and opinions, shoot yourself, leaving no children. Or make it through the army, but do things that haunt you forever, and/or get a major heroin habit and overdose and/or shoot yourself.
Scenario C) Get average grades, lead an average life, but suffer your parents constant disappointment, grow up, end up in a job you truly hate, have children; push your children to try harder than you so they don't make your mistake; unwittingly and unknowingly force your children into choosing a scenario from A-D. With a bit of luck they might pick C and live. But the dice will roll again for their offspring.
Scenario D) Opt out. Just shoot yourself. Don't even try option A-C. Possibility that people will realise why you did it, and thus possibly opening scenario E to your brothers or sisters, or even people in other families whose parents are forcing their children into a similar situation.
Scenario E) (Only available with supportive family) Take the time to find out what you want from life. Don't even give a flying fuck about what people 'grade' or think of you. Sample what life has to offer, and find the right path for you and follow it.
I was lucky to have Scenario E available to me, and despite scoring an 11 coefficient on the salary to IQ test (which I think is flawed, as they don't seem to assume a bell-curved IQ to income graph), I have wealth which can't be measured in a test: http://money.guardian.co.uk/work/iqtest2/
I'm happy in every aspect of life, have a great family, and I'm doing a job I love and I'm good at, with a considerate family-run family-oriented employer.
To summarise, maybe this guy could have picked another scenario which didn't result in him blowing his brains out, but without the support of his family regardless of his grades, the options are all pretty fucking shit to be honest.
But I won't be harsh and say that you people who say he didn't deserve to be in the genepool are wrong. Maybe you people are right, maybe it was natural selection. After all, intelligence isn't exactly survival characteristic and it's definitely not in high demand these days. You people clearly don't value it. I guess if we know anything, it's that mediocrity and ignorance is it's own reward.

Suicide is an option entertained only by the incredibly cowardly and selfish. Those who take their own lives devastate the emotions and lives of everyone who loves them, not to mention everyone else who knows/cares about them. With one action they insult the connections they have with everyone they have ever met by saying "you're not good enough, and never will be." I have no sympathy for this coward, but my heart goes out to his family and friends for what he has done to them.
I know a lot of your e-penises have to seem big and say harsh word about him, his lack of friends, and his family, but I take a little relief that none of your thoughtless word will ever make it back to any of them and mean anything.

To quote for effect:
He didn't kill himself because his grades were bad. He killed himself because his parents were cutting off everything else in his life that he felt was important. Everything that he did to relax, things he did with his friends and in the community. I'm guessing he couldn't stand being someone who lived for the sake of going to school and studying every waking moment of his spare time.and he saw the things that he felt were important in his life being taken from him,” Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce L. Castor said.
Obsessive parents, determined not to 'let their child fail' can put quite a lot of stress on a person. Instead of hanging himself, or slitting his wrists at home, this guy wanted to make a public statement. A statement that would cause most pain to his parents, because after all they were the ones that were ruining his life.
Mcminty.

I'm sorry, but that's simply the best way to put it. If you're going to be a superior stuck-up ass in here then you can haul your ass back to your A-grade school.

that is the saddest thing ive read. I am an 11th grader in my highschool, it just goes to show the amount of pressure High school places on kids. I feel terrible for the family, suicide is no joke, my cousin killed herself and that was the most traumatic experience i have ever felt. Dont crack jokes, Dont be mean. STFU and be solemn because this family is now destroyed.
as far as i can see, noone mentioned the obvious here...
how do u shoot urself with a rifle? thats gotta be fucking hard. seriously, cuz its like u gotta be holding the barrel against ur head, but the triggers usually farther than arms length. maybe he had monkey arms too, and thats the real reason he shot himself.

not that hard, not all rifles are 3+ feet.norge wrote:

Well at least he only killed himself. Also “At Springfield Township High School, the teenager took the weapon out of a large duffel bag” err Tip off anyone?.
Some of you guys need your baws kicked
To criticise someone who takes their own life, is to show that you have no understanding of anything but your own narrow world.
Do you think these people just feel a bit pissed off one day and decide to top themselves ?
They are psychologically ill and unable to make rational decisions. Thats why suicides are so tragic.
This thread merely confirms a level of ignorance and lack of understanding for others, I had previously thought only prevalent in the insect community.
But then again maybe insects have computers

Correct assumption. I stuck the edit there because I foresaw that potential confusion.Spark wrote:

Sad story. You never know, if this guy didn't kill himself, he could've been a great person.
Reading that makes me want to listen to Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance and Simple Plan.
I have no sympathy for anyone who takes their own life, it is the most selfish act anyone could perform. Ofcourse it doesn't worry them, they're dead, but everyone they left behind will be devistated. Good riddance to him, comiserations to his loved ones.
