well i got an iPod Nano for xmas! alls great. I installed it on my computer, and it also imstalls quicktime media player. Well my cousin (who also got a nano) realized that his computer was running slowly, so he decided that quicktime was the problem, so he deleted it. his computer ran much faster, but he needed quicktime to put song son his ipod. this morning, this is before bf2 screwed up on me for the zillionth time, i was playing bf2, and i noticed its slower than it used to be.

i have 3 choices:

#1. Delete quicktime, never put songs on my iPod again, and play bf2 like normal.
#2. Keep quicktime, keep putting songs on, have a lagging game of bf2.
#3. Maybe unistalling SF will make it less laggy.

I dunno, i just wanted to let that out.

I have uninstalled SF for good, cuz i hate it, it smessing everthing up, but i havent tried bf2 yet to see if its any faster. also, that stupid 'Invalid CD Key' message is back to haunt me, so i gotta fix that problem too before i can play bf2 online.

Can you tell me why you need QuickTime for putting songs to your iPod? There must be some other way and I can maybe help but tell me why QuickTime is necessary. Is it changing format of audio or what?

EDIT: And btw, how QuickTime can slow your computer down if it's not running? Be sure that QuickTime is not running on backround (normaly it is and you must remove it from startup, there should be setting for it in QuickTime's settings, or if not then you must do it from registery or just always close it after reboot).

yeah you dont' need quicktime for iPods as far as I know. it's just aprt of their software bundle dealy thing. and I'd be happy to get that copy of SF off of you if you wanted. I'll give you $10 for it. we'll just have to figure out how to get it to me...

screw iTunes and QuickTime...  use this:  http://www.redchairsoftware.com/anapod/

not only will it let you put songs on your iPod, but you can take songs OFF of iPods, as well.  even if they're not your own...if you get my drift.

Having Quicktime and I-Tunes should do nothing to the performance of BF2, unless your machine flat out sucks?  Try seeing what processes are running in the backround, for all I know you could have 5 other programs running at the same time, and it could be one of them.  I know on my machine, whenever I reboot, 2 programs will always be going in the backround--- I-Pod Helper, and some other I-Pod named item.  Close those, maybe that will help?  Also, as someone suggested, take QT out of your startup.

yes, my system flat out does suck. i think i fixed the lag problem, czu it was lagging before on singlplayer, now its not as bad, cuz i got 147 points in one round on single player lol, i have no life.

and yes, everytime befor ei play bf2, i press crtl alt del and i remove the background processes. so i dont think its quicktime anymore. all i gotta do now is fix that darn CD key error... can one of you guys remind me how to fix it? i used to do this, and i did this today:

1. delete pacth then reinstall it
2. restart computer
3. type in cd key
4. retsrat the computer
5. then try bf2 again

i did that... still not working.

Remove QT from your registry for start up.
I have a reg edit application that one of the tabs is "START UP" and QT was there, I told it to remove and now all is good.

When Itunes needs QT and it sees that it is not running it starts QT.

Note the Reg Edit program START UP showed QT  the windows START UP folders were all blank.

I aslo got an iPod nano. First off, you shouldn't need QT for putting songs on. Second, unless you disable it, it will be a process running in the background. Just go down to the Start bar and disable the blue Q.

Weird. My Nano is just nano -> itunes.

No other progs needed.

then again i'm not an apple person, my nano is the first and last apple product i'll own in my life.

if you want to stop certain services and programs from running when windows starts, go to the Start Menu > Run > msconfig

in the startup tab you'll find all of the programs that are loaded when windows boots.

anyways, Anapod is a great piece of software for those with multiple machines.  if you attempt to hook up your ipod to another machine with iTunes, you'll get a nasty message saying that "this iTunes library does not match the library on this iPod.  would you like to format your iPod and match it with this library instead?"  you don't have that problem with Anapod.  you can take your iPod to a completely different machine and drag and drop audio files, playlists, etc. to and from the iPod.

I have an iPod. 60GB, biggest they make.  I have Quicktime and Special forces, and no more lag than usual.  I don't use Quicktime for my iPod, I use iTunes.
