I earnestly hope that one of the reasons as why people disregard my claymores is because people think they are mines or c4.
Why have they not simply color mode the hazardous devices?
For instance make the skull: green for C4, orange for mines, and red for claymores.
Am I correct in thinking that this would not be very difficult to incorporate into a patch?

The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.

I always assume they're just stupid or being assholes. I ALWAYS check what is under that jolly roger before I decide to be a retard and sprint over it.

I posted that a few days ago about colour coding the AT Mines / C4 and Claymores

Things that could accidently go off  (claymore, AT mine) could be red.
C4 (which is set of by the cherry red button) could be orange (or purple or any other color)

Maybe EA could include an arrow that shows the direction that a claymore is facing (like the arrows that they already have to show the direction infantry are facing)

Maybe even go as far as an audio warning by some angry loud drill seargent (Hey!!! you stupid recruit!!! just what do you think your doing!?!?!?!), or some boring monotone voice like the UAV (warning, friendly mines in your area)

We discucsed this at Totalbf2.com a while ago. We determined that color, and different icons (or small text labels), would be ideal.

If they do decide to colour code them,  more than likely you will still get a plonker punishing you for setting them off

Yeah that would be even better different color and different shape.
So does any one know the best way I could bring this to the developers attention?

Great idea,if the people would actually see the red skulls we could consider to colorcode them.

Claymores and AT-mines are condemned to be useless because your teammates don't watch out for tiny red skulls, changing the color wouldn't make a big difference,tank-drivers do not look at it anyway and always punish the AT-mine teamkill.
I think that some people even deactivate their 3D-map(the distance to the flags, red skulls,etc..)to get a better performance out of their crappy machines or just because they get irritated by the flags in midair.

But besides that the idea is awesome.

So, has the median maturity level/IQ dropped since the DesertCombat days? I distinctly remember using mines extensively while playing AT class, and never having TK problems. Then again you could actually mark mines on the map in DC. It is sad to think of all the ways this game is so backwards from DC,(naval battles, shoulder fired stingers, Howitzer, unbastardized 249SAW, etc.) but also has so many improvements (squads, VoIP, umm thats pretty much it I guess). Obviously, I realize it is the natural progession of games to change, but personally I think EA had DICE by the balls on this one. Don't get me wrong, I like the game and still have the great "Battlefield moments", but they definitely left something to be desired. Bring back the binoculars DAMNIT! Anyhow, I think this is a great idea, and not just because the OP is part of my clan either...

Not that great ideas really make it to the people making the game, but I have thought this to be a simple implementation since day one. Then again, I thought it would be simple to fix the infamous "red bug" but I have still seen that from time to time too.

what I want is being able to spot enemy explosives. Might save some of your idiot teammates from driving over mines or running through claymore if it had some type of marking.

I hate it when friendly snipers put like claymores in the stupidest places... like in a high traffic allys on karkand.. Most people would assume that a team mate wasnt stupid enough to put claymores where his team was and run into it thinking its like c4 or a mine... and get TK'd then the stupid sniper calls them a idiot for running into his claymore... I think they should make it more obvious whats what... I hate having to always slam on my breaks in a car or something and pop out to see it thats damn mines or c4 in the road so I know if I can drive over it.

Dito that. I HATE when el stupidos run over my mines, even though they actually show red skulls, and after that have still the nerv to punish!!! I try not to get mad at it but occations like that just does it. There should be some punishing etiquette with the BF2 pack/manual

like someone said earlier, people are assholes and, like someone else said after that, people turn off their 3d maps. put those two together and the unfortunate truth is that changing the color or symbols of explosives would not lower the amount of teammates setting them off enough. Still, in theory it's a cool idea

Some great ideas here - Spotting enemy mines, A Claymore direction arrow, color/shape coded icons, lets hope Dice and EA watch the forums

EDIT: New thought - Why not add an icon to friendly nades, after all they can be just as deadly. A giant red skull landing just in front of me would make me think twice about moving forward. Also, perhaps some form of indication about the blast radius on Claymores/C4...

great idea, ive pondered this so many times. some of us dont have the luxury of slowly approaching these red crossbones to see what type of device it is. the damn crossbone usually blocks a good view of what the explosive is. the simplest solution for me is color coded. red, orange, and yellow are my choices of color, all are colors of caution in our everyday life, so its already ingrained in our brain. all you need to see is color, you dont need different icons, the color alone will instantly tell you what it is. i like the direction on the claymore, though. that couldve saved my ass and saved me from tks quite a few times. the icon on the friendly grenade is just overkill, no reason for it (sorry tempestrix). problem solved; of course there will still be accidents and shithead idiots.
