Okay, so we all know that Medics can use their defibrilators to revive teammates that have been critically wounded, but not those who have been killed.  Also, usually when a player is "killed" his body disappears after two seconds or so, leaving only a kit behind.  But here's the interesting thing...

On multiple occasions my on-screen dialogue says "You were killed"...only to have a Medic run over my body and somehow revive me.  Most other times though, the "You were killed" means what it should, i.e., my body disappears.  Anyone else notice this?

Also I've been wondering about what determines whether you're killed or just critically wounded.  Usually, direct artillery strikes, C4, nades, and (always) dying within a vehicle result in being killed, but small arms fire usually gives a critically wounded.  But sometimes I somehow "survive" artillery or C4 or something (that is, I'm only critically wounded), and conversely sometimes I get shot by an L85A1 or some other weapon and get "killed".  Is the distinction between "killed" and "wounded" determined by amount of damage?  Or simply how far your body flies from your kit?

Any insights, theories, stories, etc. are welcome.

C4 doesnt kill if you're on foot.

this is an interesting insight into the possible complexity of this game.  Do you think EA went far enough to code in that a head shot with small arms results in instant death, whereas body shots only critically wound?

Clear and the head's back on

I've noticed this too, but if the camera is in first-person you're always rezzable it seems.

Or, while we're at it, how a critically wounded body can get run over by ANY vehicle, much less a tank, without changing status to killed?  (Seen it many times before...get mowed down by a T-90 machinegun...see the tank treads roll over my body...and still see "You were critically wounded")

But I noticed if you shoot a guy after he is (critically wounded) lying on the floor then he dies (really)

I think it counts a certain amount of damage. Like, 100 is enough to critically wound you and 200 is enough to kill you. A direct arty shell will deal (at least) 200 damage so you're killed instantly. If you are a few feet away from an arty shell, the splash damage will only deal you 120 pts of damage; enough to critically wound you, but not enough to kill you. Similarly, you can critically wound somebody with small arms, then unload another clip into their fallen body to get them killed.

IF you shoot someone with the blackhawk and they die, they are critically wounded. If you keep shooting at the body, you get the indicator that you are hitting something....so I assume that would be setting their status to killed when you stop hitting something.

And yes, I have been revived while killed also. It was just after I was killed though...

He's right. Firing a couple extra rounds into the body makes it disappear.

Yeah, I've seen people shooting at already-dead bodies (or at least critically wounded ones) and I always figured it was to kill them.  Not sure if this works though...I admit that when one of my enemies really starts to annoy me, once I finally manage to shoot them, I unload my entire magazine into their body once they're critically wounded.  But their bodies have never disappeared from it...I dunno.

Wow, this has been really interesting so far, thanks guys.
