Your graphics card is the problem here. As far as I know, a 9800 XT is better than a vanilla 6800. Although I personally wouldn't pick either and go for at least a 6800 GT or X800 XT.

I'd say get more ram
and turn visibility to 100%
although it depends if u want it to look good or...
personally i have to turn down most things to low or medium but i get a good flow ingame and to me thats more inportant.
the game use's atleast 700 (cant remember ) just for running so its never enough ram in my opinion as humble as it might be

Ram ... another Gig will work wonders. Even get you into a map before a lot of others, I've usually CPd the first flag before most have even joined the game.

2Gig Ram .. 6600GT OC 128Mb .. AMD 64 3000.

cheers for the replys guys:D, think what ill do is buy a new gfx card.

i had a look on www.overclockers.co.uk and this is what i would buy:

"XFX GeForce 6800 GS Extreme Edition 256MB GDDR3" (its AGP)  £182

- 350MHz Core Engine Clock speed
- 256MB 1100MHz high speed GDDR3 memory
- Superscalar 12-Pipe GPU Architecture
- High-Speed DDR 256-bit Memory Interface
- Dual 400MHz RAMDACs

or a

"XFX GeForce 6800 GS Extreme XXX Edition 256MB GDDR3" (its PCI-Express)  £176

- 485MHz Core Engine Clock speed
- 256MB 1100MHz high speed GDDR3 memory
- Superscalar 12-Pipe GPU Architecture
- High-Speed DDR 256-bit Memory Interface
- Dual 400MHz RAMDACs
- SLI Multi-GPU Support
- ATX v2.0 compliant PSU Required for PCI-E Graphics/Motherboard
---------------------------------------
PCI card is cheaper and..... looks faster to me.....   i would get that one but i have a problem, maby some of u guys know how i can get around it.

https://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d19/lynx4444/gfxcard.jpg

https://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d19/lynx4444/geforce7800.jpg

Sas is your board pci-e or agp, cause one of those cards will work a treat and the other will dent your pocket and wont fit

what are u on about? 9800 XT on par with a vanilla 6800?!?!?

ur compairing 2 different series, AND the 68 has more pipes

8 pipes vs 12 pipes, AT LEAST 150% faster the 6800 is

and about the white(DVI) plugs, it usually comes with a blue(VGA) adaptor plug anyway, so no worries bout that

I think that Ur GFX is the problem, 1GB ram should be ok. My opinion is that Radeons r bether than GF (from the moment when GF made GF3 their cards started to ***)

Your graphics are holding you back.  I have a very similar rig with athlon 64 3400.  Had a 9800pro in it and upgraded to a vanilla 6800.  There's a difference, not immense, but I can turn on more bells and whistles.  Both the 9800pro and 6800 are better than the 6200, which I think may only have 4 pipes.  The 9800xt is somewhere between the 9800pro and 6800, probably much closer to the 9800pro than 6800.  The main problem you and I face is that agp cards are generally going UP in price.

I think your best bet is a 6600gt if you have the power supply and cooling to feed it.  The vanilla 6600 is ok if you are on a tight budget, but the gt is not much more expensive.  If you have more cash, go for a vanilla 6800, a x800gt or preferably a x800gto.  Try newegg.

Does somebody actually make a 6800gs in agp?  I didn't think that was the case.  That would certainly be a good but likely expensive option.  Post a link please.

Seriously, I know you've had loads of help and it's all 'sound', but another gig of Ram will make a world of difference.... so when you can afford it, go for it
